Top 2 are definitely Breaking Bad and Game of Thrones. Both are a notch above all the other shows I like.

BTW, how many episodes would you say you have to give Mad Men before you know if you like it or not? I tried a couple of times to get into it and watched the first 2 or 3 episodes and was just really bored. I know with me for the Wire I had to really force myself to get through the first few episodes and then it ended up being my favorite show ever, is Mad Men kind of like that?

2-3 sounds good. I gave it 7. When seasons are only 12, 13 episodes per, there shouldn't be any expectation to sacrifice so much time just to care about the show.

If you haven't liked it in the first 4 maybe the show isn't for you. I liked it right away because I think Don Draper is a fascinating character. I'm also in sales and love the pitching and marketing they do on the show. I actually learned some sales tips by watching the show.

Plus Don's is a straight playa. Confidence out of the ying yang and I think its hilarious when he bags chicks so easily. He's always closing

I gave Mad Men about a season and a half and it still didn't grab my attention like my other favorite shows did. I actually bought all the seasons (that were available at the time) on blu ray on BF 2011. Because of that I'm going to force myself to watch it sooner or later.

My wife made me watch Mad Men into season two before I began to enjoy it. Now, I'm hooked.

Re: The Best Show on Television

Wasn't this past season Season 5? You had to watch one-FIFTH of the entire SERIES to start enjoying it!

I mean, whatever, if you like it you like it, but these shows already have less episodes per season for quality control and to cut down production costs, so I really, really hate wasted episodes.

They aren't wasted episodes. There is zero filler on the show. The writing and acting is top notch with only one exception (January Jones), and her inability to act actually helps her character.

My issue with Mad Men when I first started was that everyone is an *******, and not like a Barney Stinson type ******* who may act like a jerk, but you know he will so something to redeem himself later. In MM, everyone stabs each other in the back to the point where its hard to find a "good guy".

Count me in the not a fan of Mad Men category. I think I watched the first 6 or 7 episodes and they completely bored me to tears. I don't have that much free time as it is so I just stopped watching it. I mean nothing ever happened.

Re: The Best Show on Television

If you get to the end of season 1 of Mad Men and the Kodak pitch amaze you then the show probably isn't for you.

Its a slow burn type of drama and each character seems to be given the same amount of complexity. There are side characters that would beat out main characters on other shows.

I recommend The Hour to all Mad Men fans in here. More people need to be watching that show. Dominic West (aka Jimmy ****in' McNulty) and Q from Skyfall (Ben Whishaw) are two of the leads and both are amazing.

Is this by the amount of mentions in this thread?

Because there is no way Curb Your Enthusiasm is a 16 seed.

Just started on Suits the other day and finished season 1 about an hour ago. I'd agree it deserves a mention in this thread. About to start on season 2
