Any Movie Theaters In Your Area Without Stadium Seating?

I'm talking about theaters that show first run pictures. The last one in the New Orleans metro area appears to be Hollywood 9 in Kenner, but that won't last because they're building a mammoth new theater right next to it, due to open in Fall 2013.

When I say "last" that's kind of a technicality, because Hollywood 9 can't compete with the newer theater five miles away in Metarie even though it is situated perfectly, sharing parking space with a large mall and seconds away from several subdivisions and apartment complexes in Kenner .

Yes, and I avoid them like the plague.

Time to upgrade, theaters. If it doesn't have stadium seating, I won't watch the movie. It's one of those things I'm extremely picky over when choosing a theater.

I haven't been to a theater without stadium seating in over 10 years now. My new thing is theaters with reserved seating. That's what our new theater has and it is awesome. No need to get to the theater early to find a seat, just buy your ticket early and choose your seat then.

This is where I watch most of the movies I see http://showplaceicon.com/Showtimes.aspx?TheaterID=8863

the VIP section is more cash but well worth it for the comfy chairs the table that I can put my drink and food on... the food itself is pretty dang good... and everyone seems to be pretty respectful (not too many people talking or the like... although Mike Beasley did get kicked out of here once.)

A good amount of movie places in Vermont have less then 8 screens and they don't have stadium seating at all. Hell they not even open all day, they don't open until 6pm. Which is why 90% of the under 50 crowd go to New York to watch movies.

No. The seats don't climb up so you can see over someone's head.

                  Oh. That's embarrassing.

That seems to happen in the front sections of most of my theaters, but it shouldn't matter since you're looking up when that close anyway.

An old theater of mine had a pretty shallow slope (as in there were no steps to walk up/down, just a ramp), but it wasn't completely flat.

The only time I had something like that was when seeing prescreenings at San Diego State, since they brought out chairs into a large hall. That got a little annoying.

Yah that's what I was thinking of. The kind that's like a resturant with a theatre screen. I can't imagine one without seats that don't climb.

I remember watching Kill Bill Volume 1 like that. A screening in the campus's hangout shop. At the time I had no idea what Kill Bill was and mostly figured it was going to be absolute garbage. My four years in college were like a sabbatical to the outside world of anything film & television related.

The closest theater to me (which I never go to despite it being walking distance) has only the slight slope. It's not enough for me. It's unfortunate because I would watch more movies if it had stadium seating.

When I used to live in Pensacola I would go to this place called the Silver Screen. It had new movies and the tickets were a lot less expensive than the Rave. Plus, they served stuff like burgers, hot wings, pizza, etc and you could wash them down with a beer, daiquiri, wine and/or wine coolers.

It was certainly not as nice as the nice the new theaters they have now days, but it had it own endearing qualities about it. And was nice to bring a cheap date to too. Dinner and a movie for under $30 = winning
