    Jurassic World (2015)

'Jurassic Park 4' lands release date

The dinosaurs are loose once again.

Universal Pictures announced Friday that Jurassic Park 4 will roar into theaters on June 13, 2014. Steven Spielberg, who directed the first two films in the franchise, will produce with Frank Marshall, but no director is yet attached. The film will be shot in 3-D.

The news makes clear that Universal is dedicated to revitalizing the Jurassic Park franchise, which has been gathering dust ever since the Joe Johnston-directed Jurassic Park III banked $181 million in 2001. Rise of the Planet of the Apes screenwriters Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver have penned a new draft of the screenplay for the four-quel, which had been been sidelined ever since an Ain’t It Cool News review in 2007 of a draft of a screenplay that featured human-dinosaur hybrid soldiers.

Universal will also re-release a 3-D conversion of the first Jurassic Park on April 5 to commemorate the film’s 20th anniversary.

I've heard nothing but high praises about the JP 3D post-conversion. I would like to see that.

I thought they weren't going to do another JP after Crichton's death, but I'm good with it either way. I just pray that they can find the heart and soul the first one had, and not resort to CGI when animatronics could presently do the same thing.

Sam Neill / Jeff Goldblum, anybody?

Yeah, I'm not seeing it if Neill and Goldblum aren't involved.

                re: Jurassic World (2015)

The films have gotten worse since the first one, so I would expect that trend to continue. Even the Lost World book felt forced by Crichton...almost like his publishers were like: "your movie just made a bajillion dollars, so you need to write a sequel!" Sam Neil couldn't save JP III, so even if they got the entire cast back I wouldn't have any faith in this movie.

What made the first movie (and book) was the wonderment of the situation. It was based on cutting edge technology that seemed within reach and the movie was made using cutting edge hybrid animitronic/CGI that still looks better than what is in movies these days. Plus you had Speilberg directing, a script based on a best-seller, John Williams doing the score, and a cast of respected actors. It was the perfect storm for hit.

Everything since has felt like a cash grab.

I guess I am one of the few that didn't hate The Lost World.

I thought it was hideous. Just the whole plot behind it made none sense.

I didn't hate it. In fact, it had the best special effects (or use of, at least) of all three films.

I also don't know why people are turned off by the gymnast kick on the raptor. I think that would happen if she did that.

However, there is a pretty funny video online that lists like 50 reasons why TLW sucks. I love laughing at those videos, even if I love the film itself.

Favorite opening scene from the Jurassic Park series so far?

Personally, I think mine is 3. I don't know what it is, but to me it had the most "Oh ****, we're screwed feeling" out of the 3.
