    The Killing Season 3

The Killing is back from the dead. Not sure how I feel about this considering that S2 just kept going in so many weird directions where each week it was like we were lead to believe each cast member could of been the killer.

It’s official: The Killing has joined that rare list of TV series that were uncancelled. AMC and Fox Television Studios (who produce the series) announced today that the show would resume production on February 25th, with showrunner Veena Due and leads Mireille Enos and Joel Kinnaman returning.

Season 3 will pick up a year later with Sarah Linden (Enos) no longer a detective. But when her ex-partner Stephen Holder's (Kinnaman) search for a runaway girl leads him to discover a gruesome string of murders that connects to a previous murder investigation by Linden, she is drawn back into the life she thought she'd left behind.

“The Killing from day one has been a truly original take on the crime drama. Veena Sud and the rest of the talented creative team are hard at work shaping the lives of Linden and Holder, portrayed by the terrific Mireille Enos and Joel Kinnaman," said Charlie Collier, AMC’s president. "We're so pleased to welcome back The Killing for another season."

I thought the season 3 premiere was EXCELLENT and loved that it was 2 hours long. This tale has me very intrigued for what's in store for season 3!

I haven't watched the first two seasons, but caught enough of the premiere to interest me. Will I be lost jumping on with this season or should I watch the first two seasons before watching the third?

Same here. Maybe because it was fresh and new compared to the first two seasons, but I thought it was great.

You'll be fine just jumping in this season. New case has nothing to do with the old one and I believe that's what the writers are intending. The first episode could have been the pilot to a new show and nobody would know any different.

            Yesssss.
Great opener, and looking like a bounce back season is in store already! I loved season 1. Seemed like such a refreshing (dark, grim and yet refreshing?) story, setting and cast. Season 2 was enjoyable, save for the copout ending. I have high hopes for this season, and the premier hasn't swayed me from that. And, as said, 2 hours? I think they wanted to show they were determined to right the wrong that was season 2's finish.

            Can't wait.

And season 1 and 2 are on Netflix. While it doesn't seem like a requirement that you watch it, it does already carry over past baggage with one of the characters discussed throughout the first two seasons. I'd watch. Free Netflix for 30 days, right? Besides, you'd miss the character development for Linden and Holder. And there is some serious character building. Great show, so to maximize your return I think you should seriously consider watching.

Mainly what you missed from season 1 and 2 was the main detective (Linden) quitting or losing her job (I can't remember which one). There was a huge murder/cover-up/political conspiracy that lasted 2 seasons too long.

Linden is an obsessive-compulsive person when it comes to victims. She loses all sight of her other wordly responsibilities as a mother, friend, companion, lover, etc in order to solve the crime. She's a great detective, but is dysfunctional in every other aspect of life.

Holder was an undercover cop and is very 'street' and dedicated to his work. He carries some of the same traits as Linden, and is very unorthodox but a very clever guy.

So far previous season characters which have been introduced are Linden, Holder, Linden's son, and Linden's friend - the auburn haired woman from the lesbian couple she toasted to.

Don't know if Billy Campbell or Michelle Forbes' characters will be re-introduced. Season 1 is great. Season 2 is good but the plot carried over from season 1 just drags too long and drags season 2 down...

So who ended up killing the girl from the first 2 seasons? I watched season 1, but missed the first few of season 2 and never had enough interest to catch back up -_-

I know it was just the first episode (technically 2, I think) of the new season, but it has renewed my hope for this series.

I enjoyed the first 2 season and this one was no different. Way to start of a very good show, looking forward to see how things go.

This wasn't a bad opener for S3, I hope they do much better than the crazy stuff in the first two seasons.

Finally had a chance to watch the latest episode and, well, damn. A dark and gritty start to the season gets even darker and grittier. Fairly disturbing and troubling subject matter involved so far, and it looks like it will only get worse.
