The thing that makes me hopeful for this movie is the great cast. Morgan Freeman, Aaron Eckhart, and Gerard Butler in an action movie cannot fail.

Actually, if the writing is below par or even mediocre it can fail.

This whole premise will be hard to make into a good movie. I can only hope it's another Air Force One.

Yeah, that definitely looks pretty sweet.

Also, anyone else find it ironic that Morgan Freeman, the man who should be the narrator for life, is Speaker of the House?

It kinda looks like Die Hard in the White House to me. Except, y'know, the good Die Hard

The fireworks are indeed awesome. And with Sir Freeman saying "Open the gates of Hell." just proves the guy still plays God.

Just looks like a typical high budget American popcorn movie to me. I'm surprised this isn't getting a summer release.

Yeah, I'm trying to discover the rave about this film from OS'ers. Looks like blow-em-up CGI action, typically not my favorite. I enjoy the cast we're looking at and the D.C. attack plot, but they're teasing us with what Hollywood seems to like most these days, and that's making a movie on a computer.

I may or may not pass... which truly leaves me with no other options.

Maybe that's what we're happy about? Looks like it should be a fun, action-packed movie with a pretty decent cast, fun/entertaining story, etc.

Not every movie needs to be an Academy Award winning/Criterion collection classic for people to get excited about it.

When I want to turn my brain off for a movie, I usually lean towards comedies and not high budget "blow-'em-up-Michael-Bay-style" action movies. Besides, it's not like there haven't been good action movies (the first Die Hard, the first Robocop, etc.) either. This one in particular just looks like typical American tripe, though.

Normally i'd agree but I doubt someone like Morgan Freeman would associate himself with a hack like Michael Bay. Antoine Fuqua has a proven track record and while he's not perfect he's miles ahead of directors like Bay. Interestingly, the scriptwriters for this flick are both first timers so we can't make too many assumptions based on the trailer.

I never said that. I just didn't see what got people enticed for this over any other action packed movie we got in the last two years.

I thought you of all people knew I like to turn my brain off for movies more than anybody. I own Shoot 'Em Up, after all.

And SPTO, Morgan Freeman has been in some non-intellectual films recently. Wanted, for example.

Is Fuqua the director for Shooter, by the way?

True, but for the most part they've had some good people involved in the production.

                              Yes Fuqua directed Shooter.
