Probably just more of a publicity stunt to get people talking.

I saw this the other night. Really enjoyed the ride. Very intense movie. There were things that could've happened in the movie that I've come to expect from horror films that they simply avoided. I really appreciated that. I'd agree with the 8.5 rating above this post. I really liked the movie and am glad I saw it, but I didn't leave the theater blown away or shaken up at what I'd just seen. (Sinister actually had that effect on me for some reason - LOVED that one to the point of not wanting to see it again for fear of ruining it)

Great Great horror flick! Saw it yesterday with my lady. It had some very tense moments, but nothing over the top. The filmography was very old school too, I loved it. Kind of gray-washed with a slight haze like it's been sitting for 30 years. Really gave it that classic atmosphere.

When I got home I researched the true story a little, and apparently the craziest scene was, in fact, based on true events.

                  Re: James Wan's "The Conjuring"

I was impressed by how original this film is despite following a "tried and true" blueprint.

I gotta be honest, this scared me pretty badly. I am not a horror movie type guy, I dabble here and there, and I was out of my league here. Very well done.

                  Wowzah. Worth the money.

                      Re: James Wan's "The Conjuring"

Avoided all commercials and everything. Saw it tonight.

I really liked it. Tough to watch again and again, but it was naturally eerie. Is it similar to movies I've seen before? Sort of. Even Insidious (another James Wan film) had similar instances. The difference was that movie got rather ridiculous, and this one stayed its course, doing things right.

I wasn't freaked out of my mind, but I know of many people who would be. I just thought that events were very unsettling, like how Paranormal Activity can get. It hit many of the right notes.

Pretty good movie. I definitely enjoyed the build up more than I did the conclusion.

I went to this with a group of friends the other night not knowing a damn thing about the movie. This... is a great film. It's like Paranormal Activity except 1000x better.

Loved it. Like others have said, great movie, great buildups to the scary/creepy parts, not the best ending (a little too 'Happy Ending' for me), but I can't wait for the sequel next year.

Apparently, at the very end of the movie,
