    Google Chromebook Pixel

$1,300 for a web browser ? I don't think so. If I am spending that amount of money on a laptop, I might as well buy a Macbook Air or Macbook Pro.

    Re: Google Chromebook Pixel

It is pretty wild to see them come out of nowhere with this. Not even just a higher-end Chromebook, but a Chromebook to apparently contend with top of the line products. It just doesn't seem right. Shoot, I've been using ChromeOS since the Pilot Program and it has made some great strides, shown drastically so as of late, but I was genuinely surprised that it hit this level, this fast. Google was seemingly dedicated to offering solid but affordable options with their Nexus 4, 7 and 10 and their latest Chromebook offerings from Samsung and Acer, but this is a complete 180.

I hope it does well, I'd like to see some more serious Chromebook offerings, but this seems like too much too fast. I still want nothing to do with a touchscreen on my notebook, especially risk smudging up such a pretty display. And 32GB local storage? C'mon! We know the cloud is the answer, but we are years away from doing away with local storage. That TB of Drive space is sweet, though.

Guess Google finally has their MacBook Pro answer; a beautiful, overpriced laptop. But I wouldn't turn one down. It is arguably the most visually appealing laptop on the market. And ChromeOS has gotten entirely better, and while maybe not always practical, it's not quite the laughing stock it used to be. It just doesn't fit the profile here, admittedly.

If they dropped the price to around $800, it would be more attractive to people.

Agreed. Not sure what would change to meet that price point, even 1k for the LTE model but it just seems excessive for a Chromebook. But more pictures I see, more convinced I am that this is the best looking laptop available. Is so sexy.

Holy crap! I got a high-end i7 laptop for half that. They are insane! For $1300, I better be getting a lot more than just a laptop. That thing better do my work for me.
