Bates Motel (A&E)
Anybody watch this tonight? The first episode was very good. It's being produced by Lost's Carlton Cuse and Friday Night Lights' Kerry Ehrin. It's a 10 episode prequel to Hitchcock's Pyscho.

Re: Bates Motel (A&E)
I watched the premiere tonight and REALLY enjoyed it. I'm impressed how it modernizes the story of Norman Bates while it manages to maintain a vintage look and vibe to it. Things like the clothing, appliances and the motel itself all do a job keeping this show close to its roots without setting it in the 50s/60s.
Vera Farmiga's portrayal of a classic character that has never even been seen before is what hooked me though. I always love her work on screen and she doesn't disappoint here either. Freddie Highmore somehow captures a young Norman Bates without actually impersonating Anthony Perkins pretty well.
This first episode had some pretty intense scenes and some very Hitchcock-like camera setups that were really impressive. Definitely gonna make this part of my regular viewing along with Walking Dead and Breaking Bad, the only other shows I never miss.
Edit: Oops I totally forgot about Psycho part 4 that DID feature Norma Bates as a character, but I think I can be excused for that since that movie sucked so hard, lol.Last edited by Galvatron; 03-19-2013, 02:03 AM.The Signature of New York -
Re: Bates Motel (A&E)
I actually liked it. I thought Farmiga was FANTASTIC and I love the idea of a flawed protagonist, which has worked out really well for shows who have had one.Writer for Operation Sports

Re: Bates Motel (A&E)
They're about to show the first episode out here. Looking forward to watching it
EDIT: That was pretty good. I've always been a Vera Farmiga fan, but the kid playing Norman is going to be great I think.Last edited by Jr.; 03-21-2013, 12:04 AM.Comment

Re: Bates Motel (A&E)
Vera Farmiga plays the mother?
I wanted to watch this but now I really want to watch it."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Re: Bates Motel (A&E)
SpoilerI thought it had something to do with that notebook Norman found. The drawings were depictions of the girl, and I don't think Norma knows about that notebook.Comment

Re: Bates Motel (A&E)
SpoilerYou could be right, I didn't even think of that. I just assumed it was the mother with one of the girls that came to the door the night of the rape/murder.Comment
