    iPad vs Laptop

Just wondering, for those of you who have iPads and/or laptops, which do you prefer? Right now I have a macbook that I've had since 2009 but have been intrigued by the iPads (obviously with a keyboard attachment case). I have a desktop computer, so I'm just using my current laptop for the internet, email, etc.

My only concerns on the iPad are not being able to use a mouse/keypad mouse. Not sure how that would work for things like posting on forums, etc.

Please do not reply and say things about samsung or other related products. I'm strictly asking about mac laptops and iPads

I like laptops. Tablets just arent for me, but they are useful at times. Ive never used a tablet with a keyboard peripheral so I cant say from that POV.

But given the choice between the 2 I'd go laptop everytime.

I got the latest iPad for Xmass. I debated on opening it because of the high price tag, but I eventually did open it. I used it for about two weeks, now it just sits there turned off. I use my laptop every day.

Hm... I guess in some ways I can see how using an iPad would be more tedious than a laptop. Any reason why you don't care for it?

If you travel alot the iPad is great for books, movies, TV shows plus all the great and easily accessible apps.

I still use my laptop for more....errrrr....laptopish stuff but I really love the iPad as well.

And as a gamer, the iPad is just starting to get going in a more serious manner.

I don't know if you are a student but it's great for taking notes in class. It's so much lighter on the backpack and with apps like Quick office and Notability I think you'd be good to go.

I keep my laptop at home these days, basically using it as a desktop lol. Also it's "quicker" than a laptop for me. Idk man I pull the iPad out and I'm ready to read, take notes, surf the net, etc.

There's not much waiting time for the thing to load or for programs to start.

I use my iPad for everything, school, work, and entertainment. I have a laptop the has sat unused since last June cause of the iPad. I made this post using my iPad.
I've heard this "patience is a virtue" junk all my life. I'm happy to say I have no virtue, no scruples, and no desire to wait too long for anything. In my humble opinion instant gratification takes too long!

                  Re: iPad vs Laptop

Laptop has way more functionality for me. Sometimes I like the notion of not having the laptop on my lap and such, but it's quickly forgotten. When I'm using my phone or any tablet device, I feel so....I don't know...restricted. Nothing is as quick for me as my laptop is.

Since I built my desktop PC, my laptop has gone unused. Everything I used my laptop for around the house (recipes, OS posting, general internet browsing, looking stuff up while playing a console game) my tablet gets used for now.

If I go on vacation, I take my laptop and tablet with me because of the ability to play games (if I'm gone for a while I take both.)

They have their different uses, laptop is more versatile so I'd definitely rather have that first, depending on what you plan on using it for.

                      Re: iPad vs Laptop

I've always been a fan of laptops.

That was until I got an iPad.

iPad + Logitech keyboard/case has rendered my laptop pretty much useless. I rarely turn on my laptop since I got an iPad.

The iPad is lighter, more convenient and easier to have just about anywhere you are.

The only advantage for laptops to me is that they have more storage capacity.

Well what would you plan on using it for? For business I would say a laptop. Just to use around the house as a portable internet (email/forums/etc.) device I'd say tablet.

If you're a student, laptop first.

I use both. When I need serious computer time I use the MacBook and use the iPad for general Internet, emails, music etc.

Ya it's basically being used for Internet and email. Do you think it would be as easy to do franchise posts on an iPad as it is on a laptop?
