Kenny Johnson (Lem) has a lot of charisma. I wish he had a steadier gig, because I've liked him in everything he's been in, even this rather generic law enforcement role on Dexter. His tussles with Tig on SOA were classic. His final scene with Shane in The Shield was epic.

Re: Dexter (Season 8)
Yeah, I'm trying to stay optimistic, but I found myself daydreaming during much of this episode. Hannah's return was tolerable, but her staying was intolerable. That's only one criticism.
I'm looking more forward to how they wrap this up then the journey to get there.Comment

Re: Dexter (Season 8)
I've been going back through from the beginning and it was kind of bittersweet seeing season 2 thinking that was what this season could have been.
Speaking of which, I used to always rank season 1 ahead of 2 (with 4 being the best) but I'm starting to think season 2 was better than the first.Originally posted by bradtxmaleI like 6 inches. Its not too thin and not too thick. You get the support your body needs.

3
5
8 (subject to change)

Re: Dexter (Season 8)
1, 2 and 4 are definitely the top tier. 7 is arguably in there as well. This is the must watch/defining seasons tier.
I'm about to re-watch 3 this week. I remember it not being as bad as everyone likes to say but it's definitely in the second tier of seasons. 5 and possibly 8 are in there as well. I'd consider this the watchable but skippable tier. Of course these final episodes of 8 will determine where it falls into.
And then 6 is in the third tier by itself, aka the it's probably best you just skip this season tier.Originally posted by bradtxmaleI like 6 inches. Its not too thin and not too thick. You get the support your body needs.

Re: Dexter (Season 8)
If I were to rate the seasons I would rate them 1, 2, 3, 4, 7, 5 with 8 being the worst (I skipped season 6). I liked Jimmy Smits's character a lot, even more than Lithgow's. The show has gotten more stale because they use the same plot devices over and over again, like Dexter getting an ally or potential ally, but then that ally turning on him. This season, I think most of us knew Dr. Vogel was going to turn on Dexter at some point.Comment

Re: Dexter (Season 8)
For this season, maybe. For the show overall? Terrible.
What pisses me off is all these random characters that were literally just introduced this season are such key pieces to Dexter's final puzzle so to speak. Daniel, Elway, Vogel, U.S. Marshal guy whose name I'm forgetting, etc.
What was even the point of LaGuerta's death when there's been almost literally no fallout from it? Why not give all these side characters that have been on the show for every (or nearly every) season something significant to actually do instead of throwing together some bull**** side stories that amount to just about nothing?
The Dexter fan in me keeps holding out hope that this is all going to be worth it, but at this point I think it's just about time to admit that they blew it. And they blew it ****ing horribly.Originally posted by bradtxmaleI like 6 inches. Its not too thin and not too thick. You get the support your body needs.

Spoliered just in case
SpoilerMy things is, there is what, 2 episodes left? In my opinion, most of the show has surrounded "Dexter not getting caught"
A majority of the story lines have revolved around someone getting suspicious, and Dexter making it out 1 step ahead of them.
You would think that the show would somehow have a grand finale of this idea. OK, they dont seem to be going that route, in fact, Dexter hasnt really killed many people this season, what 2 right? He takes on a protege, who gets killed, heck, we only just found out who his "nemesis" is, and really shots have just been fired this last episode when dude killed Vogul.
So the ending of the show seems to boil down to Dexter getting revenge for Vogul, and more or less this "going to argentina" with hanna thing that popped up out of the blue halfway through the season. The deb/dexter thing, wrapped up quickly.
I just dont get a sense that there is a culmination of Dexter going on, and it feels like its just another season, and there may be some incident that happens in the last 10 minutes of the finale that ices the show, but it would most likely be forced.
IDK, just thoughts, ive never been "really into" Dexter, and I just recently got pink eye and have been couched for a few days so I caught up, if that hadn't happened I wouldn't be current, but it just feels like the payoff for watching the show for so long won't be worth it.

Here's what Michael C. Hall has said about the finale:
“I don’t think the ending will leave any huge questions in the air like The Sopranos did in terms of ‘What was the next frame?’ or ‘Where are we headed?’” he said. “There will be some interpretation left for people to debate about…There will be a pretty broad spectrum in the response: Some people will be satisfied, some people will wish it had gone down differently, some people will be both of those things.”
Another thing the actor mentioned was that perhaps the second season – namely the “Hunt for the Bay Harbor Butcher” storyline – raised the stakes a bit too much; something that many of us felt back when we watched it. that it had a “final season” feeling to it. “We definitely spent a good amount of storytelling capital in that second season,” he said. “The second season starts, and bloop! The bodies surface! But yeah, that’s something that could’ve happened later in the game.”Originally posted by bradtxmaleI like 6 inches. Its not too thin and not too thick.
