I think I'm growing "Dexter Weary". This episode was more tedious than it was entertaining. Deb in a self hate fog the whole time, Quinn screwing someone else, (Angel's sister, opening up the "big brother protective rage" cliché ), and another "off code" kill by by Dexter. A surprise at the end, but the doctor speaks of a code that Dexter no longer goes by.

SpoilerThe moment I saw the doc staring Dex down when he was leaving the autopsy room I said out loud to myself "she knows". Really interesting to see where the story goes with this woman. Hopefully the writers don't screw it up. I'm hoping they don't kill Dex or Deb and definitely not Harrison...pretty ironic because legally both of 'em (D&D) deserve death. Cheers to a good final seasonComment

There have been several off code kills. I remember shaking my head when Dexter killed that dude in the restroom for pissing him off. I was like wtf? I don't like how every season there's a new villain for Dexter to take out. That fire guy last season was too much. I wish they would focus on the current cast more instead of having a new bad guy to chase. I liked last season because they focused on Deb and Laguerta. I think the most interesting part of the show is between Deb and Dexter and I like it so far.
I think I'm going to start avoiding the previews like I did for Homeland. Showtime reveals way too much in the previews.Comment

Re: Dexter (Season 8)
Umm, wow. Incredible episode.
The best part about the ending was that it was a total "holy ****!" moment, yet it was kind of in a more subtle way, if that makes sense.
Anyways, is it Sunday yet?Originally posted by bradtxmaleI like 6 inches. Its not too thin and not too thick. You get the support your body needs.

Re: Dexter (Season 8)
i've got no problem with dexter's 'emotions'. every season has shown to us the emotions growing inside him. and the consequences of these 'emotions' really show us (or at least me) that Harry was very correct in trying to suppress Dexter's emotions. Emotions make one volatile, and unpredictable, which is not what you want to be if you are a serial killer. And the last several seasons we've been witnessing that.
lakerfan, i completely agree about the previews.
it is pretty annoying that Jamie adds very little to the show besides sex appeal, that feels very cheap to meComment

Re: Dexter (Season 8)
Maybe the code that the doctor spoke of is a reminder for Dexter to adhere to it. At least they didn't drag out Dr Vogel's suspicions.
LOL, ,Matthews commenting on the doctor being "Quite a looker". For her age she is. In her younger days she was drop dead gorgeous.
I'm wondering if having Deb kill Laguerta was a mistake? Do we really want her to loathe herself for the remainder of the run? It's almost like her death is imminent.Comment

Re: Dexter (Season 8)
Fascinating we're talking about Dexter's emotions since his gradual "adoption" of emotions is what is making him more human and thus, make us more sympathetic towards him. At the same time, it's these same emotions that has been causing his downfall as an effective serial killer vigilante (anti-hero) which really puts us, the viewer, in a bind as to whether we root for his success (and probably table some innocents along the way) or see it all end (with him dying) -- though of course, the show IS ending.
Either way, I really liked the episode. 4/5. I was amused the director from Entourage was here (Billy?); he was always a bit irritating in the early seasons of Entourage. But I think the best part for me was finding out Deb's ****ING PASSWORD!Comment

SpoilerI think Harry told her about Dexter which is why she is now calling in a favor. Maybe something happened in their past? That's the only reason I can think of for her not telling the cops about Dexter and why she knows so much.Comment

It seems to meSpoilerHarry hired her to be Dexter's psychologist, and maybe she and Harry devised this whole thing together, maybe that's the case she consulted on before. That's the only way she could have had the drawings, and if she wasn't in on it her knowing about "Harry's code" specifically is a little "jump the sharkey".Comment

I thought she pulled those drawing from a file on him, but her having them the whole time makes sense. I agree, there is no way she should know about Harry's code unless she was in on the code from the beginning.Comment

Re: Dexter (Season 8)
SpoilerDexter didn't seem to recognize the pictures until he saw his name either, though maybe that was just for our benefit? In fact, maybe that's what happened, the "case" she consulted on before was Dexter, the captain whatshisname (though he'd be higher than captain now, right?) knows about Dexter and brought her back in now to steer Dexter back on course? He'd have to suspect Dexter after LaGuerta talking to him before she died.Comment

Re: Dexter (Season 8)
Was not a fan of that episode. Granted, it's only the first episode but it has greatly dulled my excitement after things were looking better last season.
I was hoping the season would pick back up with the investigation into LaGuerta, did they leave the body there? Dump it? How on earth did they manage to cover that up so perfectly that nobody is even the slightest bit suspicious?
SpoilerI agree the only explanation with Dr Vogel is that she was Dexter's pscyhologist, and with how young he was at the time it's no surprise he wouldn't remember her or the drawings.Comment

Another thing is, if you go back to Season 6, there's a scene in the 1st episode where Angel and Jaime are talking and they just casually brush off Dexter's weird tendencies. You have to think that eventually Jamie is going to be used as a plot device to reveal who Dexter really is to everyone else.Originally posted by bradtxmaleI like 6 inches. The other part that bothers me is Dex not feeling bad about LaGuerta's demise. It solves his problems, no big deal. As the doctor said he has no empathy. Of course he has shown it many times throughout the series, but now he's just another serial killer. I don't get it.
Maybe next episode.Comment
