Re: Elysium
Looks pretty cool; same guy who did District 9.
Apparently he was in line to do a Halo movie, but it fell through and instead this is what we're getting. Apparently the name of the movie is even a city from the Halo series. Glad it fell through because this looks great and I've got absolutely no interest in Halo.Comment

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.
Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.Comment

Saw this preview yesterday when I saw Star Trek: ID. Since District 9 is in my top 3 Sci-Fi movies I will be seeing this asap.Comment

Re: Elysium
Saw it last night in IMAX with the gf. Sad to say I came away disappointed - probably because I went in expecting District 9-level storytelling and that may have been a bit unfair. I was rolling my eyes halfway through the movie. Given the director and Matt Damon's/Jodi Foster's involvement I thought it'd be a lot better. Although I agree Jodi Foster has fantastic legs although she's getting a little too skinny for my tastes. Check them out in Inside Man (w/Denzel Washington) - some really nice leg shots of her there.
SpoilerI couldn't reconcile the movie's premise is the world's rich are able to live on Elysium but the movie only seemed to focus on Los Angeles and Elysium - it was like nothing else existed in the world. In District 9 everything was confined to South Africa, which made the story believeable/somewhat plausible. I kept wondering why people weren't trying to get to Elysium from all over the world, not just LA.
Also didn't like how the law enforcement robots seemed to have personalities, mainly of the arrogant LA-cop stereotype. The robots didn't seem very logical; seems like it would've been better to have humans displaying their disdain for the lower classes.
There were other things I had problems with plot/story-wise but overall thought it was kind of a wasted effort. There were some nice effects here and there but overall this was the most disappointing movie I've seen in a while. But think part of that's because it scored decently on Rottentomatoes and I expected more.Last edited by spankdatazz22; 08-11-2013, 05:49 PM.HBO's "The Wire" should rank as one of the top 10 shows EVER on tv - period

Re: Elysium
SpoilerMeh. I had high hopes for this one. I was looking forward to it all summer. The characters were very superficial. I didn't care who lived or died. I loved District 9, this was no District 9. Everything felt way too forced. 3 Stars for me.Comment

Re: Elysium
Saw it. Came away pretty "meh". The villian was atrociously annoying. I was waiting for him to pop open a Foster's any second along the way. Speaking of Foster....ya, she has amazing legs for a 50 yo, but I found her character not believable. I guess you could say she was miscast.Comment
