Depeche Mode. One of the GOAT's?

I was talking to a buddy of mine today, and dig. This is a band that is 30 years old. Many think of as a relic of the 80's. However is still a major touring force that plays/supports its new material. They have headlined Coachella in recent years, and are headlining the ACL Fest in Austin, Texas this October. Back to my buddy and I's discussion...when it comes to bands that formed in the 80's very few....can still hang with Depeche Mode. U2? Of course. Iron Maiden, Metallica, and Prince also are in that rarified air. But that is about it. Wham? Motley Crue? Poison? Gun's And Roses? They are all a shell of themselves and only tour to play their glory day hits, as fans will flock for the exits if they try any new material. Depeche Mode goes on world tours and only performs in major venues. I think they are deserving of induction into the R@R HOF.

Depeche Mode and Duran Duran should have been in the R&R HOF years ago.

Red Hot Chili Peppers - formed in 1983.

      RUSH - formed in 1968!

Not sure if coming out with new music every 4 years and going on world tours is r & r hof material with the judges.

Thinking of all the bands they influenced (Marylin Manson,Rammstein,H.I.M. and even Coldplay just to name a few) and that Johnny Cash covered one of their songs I'd say yes.

Haven't heard their new album outside of the song at the end of Injustice.

Their new album is good. They went for a bluesier type sound...hence Delta Machine. There is some songs that I skip right through, but it has it's share of real good material. Broken, Should Be Higher, Alone, and Soothe My Soul are my favorites from the album.

I love DM, but I haven't seriously investigated their material beyond 'Ultra.'

I love 'Violator', 'SOFLD', and 'Ultra'...a great trilogy.

Their influence has been huge. I agree they should be considered for HOF.

Hell, if nothing else Gahan should receive a Lifetime Achievement Award just for surviving.

Yes, he has nine lives, bless him.

The Devotional Tour DVD is probably in my top 3 all time greatest concert DVDs, just brilliant in every respect. And Dave was ON and fantastic, hitting the notes solid and great pitch, great entertainment...and he was joyful throughout. But OBVIOUSLY high as a kite that night.
