    R.I.P Ray Manzarek

Keyboardist Ray Manzarek, whose alternately gutsy and psychedelic shadings were nearly as distinctive a part of the Doors' sound as Jim Morrison's heated dramatics, died Monday (May 20) after a long struggle with bile duct cancer. He was 74.

    Re: R.I.P Ray Manzarek

The Doors window of fame was very small due to the abrupt death of Jim Morrison but man did it spearhead a movement, a counter-culture, and Manzarek was at the forefront of that. RIP...

Very sad news. The Doors have always been one of my favorite bands. He will be missed.

Bile Duct Cancer is a *****. Sad to hear of his passing, but hopefully he is free of pain now.

Grew up on The Doors, thanks to my father. Still listen to their music. Ray was a very good interview too; provided an honest look into the band and the music scene during that time.

Been listening to LA Woman the past week in the car. Sad news. Jim gets the obvious attention, but the whole band fit so well together.

                  Wow, RIP Ray.

Thanks for a generation of music in a short time.

As someone pointed out, he was very candid in interviews.
