Re: James Gandolfini Dead at 51

As someone who follows television and looks up to guys like Gandolfini in a lot of ways, this is truly heartbreaking news today.

I'll always remember him for giving the finest performance in television history as Tony Soprano. Rest in peace.

Completely out of left field. In a lot of ways he changed the very nature of the television drama with his acting in The Sopranos.

I was a huge fan. This is very depressing news. I was looking forward to observing his talent for years to come.

                    RIP James

Man, big fan of his, this came out of nowhere. Of course Sopranos, but also great in movies like In The Loop.

The Soprano's took drama on television to a level that has yet to be matched. I was so sad to hear this news and what is so ironic I had just got into a debate with a friend of mine about whether Tony was killed in the diner or not (yeah ppl are still debating about it). I fall in the category of Tony being hit by the member's only jacket guy, but my friend falls in the "life goes on category" after that infamous fade to black ending. Now to think the man who played that amazing character is really gone.

RIP Mr. Gandolfini. You helped HBO take original dramas to a new level. There has never been a better show than the Sopranos.

James Gandolfini reportedly gorged himself on fried food, foie gras and booze just before he died of a heart attack.

Gandolfini downed at least 8 drinks at the restaurant in the hotel where he died -- 4 shots of rum, 2 pina coladas and 2 beers -- this according to the New York Post.

The "Sopranos" star also feasted on fried prawns covered in mayo and chili sauce and foie gras, according to the paper.

On Tuesday -- the night before he died -- we're told Gandolfini dined at another restaurant and downed at least one glass of wine (Photo above).

Gandolfini struggled with alcohol and drug addiction.

Interestingly ... the doctor who runs the ER put out a statement Thursday that there was no evidence of alcohol in his system, but based on the report something is clearly off.
