The writing on this show has just been so impressive to me. Vince Gilligan is brilliant.

Other than vacuum cleaner guy, this episode was excellent. Perfect setup for, what I'm sure will be, an explosive finale.

What's funny is this guy played the bumbling, dorky, super nice friend on Friday Night Lights. So watch him here trips me out. He's a complete ****ing ******* but I really like his character.

This episode was great imo, total calm before the storm.

After sleeping on it, there's a CHANCE Jesse and Walt "ride off into the sunset together", depending on how you use the term "together"

While Jesse can never forgive Walt for letting Jane die, Jesse can't take down all of the Nazis at once without setting off the meth lab on purpose (which a friend suggested and I can REALLY see happening. Jesse has to be near suicidal at this point).

Walt swoops in, saves Jesse, tells him to run, then takes out Grey Matter, if he hasn't done so before.

I think he has to take them out after. Going to war with the Nazis is one thing, but using the Ricin on them is way more difficult. I doubt he can arrange a face to face meeting without grabbing some sort of leverage, which I'm not seeing happening. Could poison them in their sleep, but that's the thing about this show. We don't know what Walt is thinking right now.

people are clinging to the idea that Walt is going to exact revenge on Gretchen and Elliot. He achieves nothing by killing them. It's simply a waste of time. He left them, when he had the option to stay. They didn't "screw him over". This is similar to the notion (that gets repeated ad nauseum), that Walt got into making meth because he had to provide for his family. Rubbish. He did it out of pride and to feed his ego. Gretchen and Elliot were willing to pay for his treatment, but he refused. While that pride, which caused him not want to be looked at as a case of charity, was probably and mostly noble, even when he made enough money to get out, he said he wanted to be in the "empire business", because all along this has fed his ego.

Oh yeah, Todd makes an excellent sociopath. He's like a Mike in the making, except better, because he'll do the job regardless of whether it requires killing women and children and breaking all assumed moral codes in the drug underworld. Seems like the only emotion he shows is dorky politeness, whether he's trying to win the affection of Lydia, sincerely apologising to Andrea before he shoots her in the head or trying to console Walt after his uncle just killed Hank.

To clarify, it was acted perfectly. The character itself just didn't make any sense. Minor nitpick, but he's driving 4000 miles a month to help out some half dead wanted felon? If his motivation is money, why not just off Walt, bury him in the mountains and take the barrel of cash? It just doesn't make any sense that he'd expose himself to this degree for 50k a month. Remember Walt is probably on the FBI top 5 wanted right now.

It is what it is, he was more plot device than actual character and I'm cool with that. Other than that small nitpick, it was a perfect episode.

Also - the old guy had Saul. Who else knew about his business? I'm expecting not many others. Saul is gone, never to send him another client again. Why open yourself up a can of worms by offing someone and suddenly becoming rich beyond your wildest dreams, when you can do the exact same thing by making a trip once a month over time?
