    10.3 million viewers last night.

By comparison: "Face Off" (season 4 finale) had 1.9. No episode in the "5A" season last year broke 3 million. The "5B" opener had 5.92, "Ozymandias" had 6.37, and "Granite State" had 6.58.

One of the most watched series finales in the past 5 years, just from a cursory glance. Wiki has it as the 82nd most watched finale of all time (Directly below Melrose Place and directly above Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman.)

      ER (April 2, 2009) - 16.4 million viewers
      Lost (May 23, 2010) - 13.6 million viewers
      Desperate Housewives (May 13, 2012) - 11.9mil viewers
      Without a Trace (May 19, 2009) - 11.2 million viewers
      Breaking Bad (September 29, 2013) - 10.3 million viewers
      Cold Case (May 2, 2010) - 10.0 million viewers
      Boston Legal (December 8, 2008) - 9.9 million viewers
Wizards of Waverly Place (January 6, 2012) - 9.8 million viewers
      The Closer (August 13, 2012) - 9.8 million viewers
      24 (May 24, 2010) - 9.3 million viewers

That's just in terms of raw viewership numbers of course. It says 6.5% of households, with no share data yet of course.

Also keep in mind that shows on Fox/NBC/ABC/CBS always have bigger audiences. A cursory look at How I Met Your Mother episodes shows it routinely landing 6-7-8 million viewers per episode, and a handful of episodes that break 10 million.

For a show on AMC to break 10 million viewers for the finale is amazing. Last night was an event.

Finally watched the final episode today, and what a way to end it, truly the only way it should and could of ended. We got complete closure which was a very good way to end the show.

          Long live Breaking Bad

Not disagreeing at all, I was just throwing out some of the numbers.

For the non-basic cable (or whatever it's called) it did extremely well. It is pretty much the only reason AMC is ever on in our apartment (Mad Men doesn't count since I watch it on Netflix and other methods, blu-ray and such.)

AMC's highest viewed finale, ever. Far and away.
Disney's highest (Wizards of Waverly Place) had 9.8 million
HBO had both The Sopranos (11.9m) and Sex and the City (10.6m) higher.
            Nickelodeon's highest was 6.4 million.
USA had Monk at 9.4 million.

The only thing I can hope is that AMC (and the other networks, really) can recognize that dramas of that quality can draw the ratings better than most of the crap they churn out these days. I know I'm hoping for too much (and thankfully we have the cable channels/premium networks to pick up the slack) but imagine if the basic networks (FOX/CBS/NBC/ABC) would get in on the quality drama train that is going on right now. There's tons of money in it to be made by everyone, they just have to show some patience. This show had crap for viewership (comparably, of course. 1.9 million viewers for the Season 4 finale was up 23 percent from season 3.)

It took only 16 episodes to boost ratings by nearly 450%. That's unfathomable. That right there could be a game changer in the industry - if they want to pay attention to well-crafted shows that are out of the norm.

Sales increased by 3,000% for Badfinger's "Baby Blue," which appeared in the series finale of AMC's "Breaking Bad."

That unfortunately is never going to happen. The majority of viewers are to impatient or to lazy to follow a show that makes you think. They don't appreciate all the small things Vince included.

I wonder where all those extra viewers came from. Up almost 4 million viewers from the week before seems odd.

This show proved it's not, is what I'm saying. Demanding instant results out of a TV show is ridiculous in this day & age. The only shows that works for are shows like Seinfeld, HIMYM, etc. where the overarching story isn't truly the draw of the show.

I love that Gilligan gives shout outs to so many other shows.

Something that bothered me is how Skyler having the coordinates will help her in anyway. I feel like that would cause her more issues if the police knew that she had knowledge of the body location. Am I missing something there?

Can we really assume she would get full immunity for that kind of knowledge?

The way I saw it, it has been months since Walter White went into hiding and she still was not charged, meaning it is clear that they had nothing on her. Remember Hank barely had any concrete evidence on Walt to begin with so it is unclear whether the government would have had even a remote case against her. Factor in the phone call Walt made to her before she fled where he placed the blame entirely on himself, and exonerated her, it becomes more clear the government did not suspect her being tied in.

Now there was a scene where they asked her to cooperate if she remembered anything that might help in their investigation "or else" (at least that's how I think it went). I sort of saw that scene as saying they didn't have crap on her necessarily, but they couldn't let two DEA agents being killed slide without placing the blame on someone (in other words if they didn't catch Walt she was next)

Walt gave her the ticket/coordinates to basically get them to believe even further that she had nothing to do with it. For example her calling and saying "I just found/remembered something of interest, in exchange for full immunity I will give you the information." Also typically people don't call up the cops and say here is evidence X now give me immunity, they go through their attorneys to negotiate a deal prior to divulging the information, so if for whatever reason the feds were not interested in giving her immunity she wouldn't really be in any worse a position.

But they just discovered Walt came back to town, and now his wife has coordinates to dead police officers. It just doesnt look good from any angle at that point; like she possibly has been in contact with him/ in with him.

On the other hand, she could say she got the info when Walt returned to town and theoretically exonerate herself even further, if she words it right. Them lacking real evidence against her may be the saving grace that I guess we are suppose to accept.

I think Walt actually instructed her to tell them that he came to see her and to give them the ticket. I guess maybe she could have set it up as if he came to her to try to get her to play along with his plan and her going to them right away shows she is fully on their side and not Walts.

The exact phrasing of that convo is escaping me at this point but it made sense when I heard it, for what that's worth lol.
