I'm holding out hope that Ted meeting the mother will be magic. I can't stand pretty much all the characters though. Sad. It was a great show.

I'm just angry that one of the most important moments in the show's history was visually destroyed and stuck in an episode which was terrible overall.

And I don't think there should have been any real interaction between Ted and the mother until the time they ACTUALLY meet. For the viewer, once they actually meet, it's going to be like "who cares" because we've already seen them on screen interact with each other, and hell, even the proposal.

I just struggle to imagine what goes through the writers' minds on these shows sometimes.

They won't ACTUALLY meet until the last episode so there won't be a whole lot to care about after that. It's the last season, I'm just going with it. Won't be the worst last season of some of the shows I've watched, that's for sure.

I just don't understand the point of having Marshall away for a good portion of the season. I miss him interacting with the actual cast in person, not via iPad. I also miss the bar scenes, which next week it looks like there might be some so that's good.

Don't get how it'd work. Especially with an episode later on in this season that's basically about how the mother met Ted......

Sounds like it'll be what Joey(the series not the character himself) was to Friends, just a random and unnecessary spinoff.

I read about it a week or so ago. The story I read was that it was a spinoff in tone, not in characters. If it happened, they would introduce a new character or two in the final episode(s) and then go with the new show. It wouldn't have anything to do with Ted, the Mother, or their respective friends after that point.

It'd all depend on the cast. This show (and That 70's Show and Friends for that matter) has been successful because of a great cast with natural chemistry. It's very difficult to duplicate that. That's why sitcoms tend to not last long. It's a crap shoot.

The green screen was terrible. ****ing ridiculous that not a soul noticed how awful the lighthouse scenes were. These last few episodes have been garbage.

I knew having an entire season cover a weekend would screw up the show.

Marshall being on the road probably has a lot to do with him possibly not coming back. It is a meet in the middle type deal. Those scenes are easy to shoot.

As for the bar scenes. Considering all the episodes take place in about 48 hours, a little hard to pull that one off unless you want them drinking every hour of every day... well I guess Lily is managing that.

There's lots of flashbacks and flashforwards coming, so we may see the bar more

I liked the proposal last episode. I just don't understand how we will even care when he "meets" the mother.

I know someone else already said that, but that just seems like such a dumb idea. We've seen too much interacting between the two.

I caught this week's, first time since the premiere episodes.

...what the ****? The green screen, George Carlin on guitar, the randomness of showing the proposal before we see them meet, the cliche "Mom hates son's fiancé" story? Geez.

I thought the ultimate embrace/acceptance with Robin and Barney's mom was good; and the guy at the desk countering Ted on everything makes me laugh...but what happened? They ended last season on such a high with the mom reveal. Is it the "this season is only two days" thing dragging this down?
