This clown just performed a 5min show to telling 3 jokes. Gets upset with the crowd because they kept telling him they loved him. Told ppl to shut the f up and to suck his you know what! THEN said he makes millions has a private jet that will have him back in south Africa by morning! He sits on a stool on stage...READS a news paper for 25mins then walks off ending the show!!!? This dude use to be one of my favorites but he needs to ca it a wrap and cut the bs!! No class!!

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was at that show Thursday night. I just got myself a new job and have to travel out of state for 2 months of training, so my girlfriend bought us tickets and we went with another couple as my last big thing before i go off. And I must say that was pretty freaking terrible what Chappelle did.

I haven't read any other post yet but my goodness. Dave was the main attraction and he took a crap all over his fans. I understand some of the people in the crowd were getting rowdy, I'm not sure but I could see he was talking to people in the crowd who were seating right in front of him; not sure what was being said but one minute he's telling us jokes and the next minute he calls us one of the worst crowds he's ever had and sits there to smoke a cigarette and drink some water.

The only saving grace of that show were the some of the comedians before him. I personally think the comedian Hannibal did an excellent job, I'm not familiar with Flight of the Concords and what they were say/Singing was hard to make out because of the music being so loud.

Because of the whole ordeal and our anger, my girlfriend called the local news immediately proceeding the show and sent in a video and the next day they were over her house and interviewed her for a bit and put her on t.v. Sadly Ticketmaster won't refund the tickets because they said "the show did go on" so no one gets their money back.

Talking about a crappy way for me to spend one of the last weekends with my girl before I go off.

Edit: Even though I'm pretty angry at the situation I completely understood why he did it. The crowd was definietly getting rowdy. I don't understand people, we all came to see a show.....to SEE a show, not to yell what we want the comedian to do, he had his own skit he wanted to perform and you could hear people screaming quotes from the Chappelle show, One guy even screamed if he's going to do a Half Baked sequel.

Doesn't also help that people where allowed to smoke weed. WTF all around me you could smell it. The kids sitting in front of me were drunk and high as heck. It was funny, some guy took his phone out to either take a picture or text someone and one of the security guards ran towards him to stop him, the dude was pretty macho and said "if you touch me,i'll beat the crap out of you, your allowing these idiots around me to smoke weed but if i take out my phone i'm going to get kick out....." As aggravating as it is to hear that he actually performed for the people in Pittsburgh, I understand why he just sat down and did nothing in Hartford

I think a lot of it is the environment the comedian creates, though. A comedian like Kevin Hart is very scripted, and by the book. He does his thing and it's very much like going to a play.

Chappelle on the other hand does shows late, high, drunk, without material, etc. He also has a very conversational, laid back style and routinely interacts with the audience himself. You have to take the good with the bad. If you want to be a performer, be a performer. If you want to create the everyone just hanging out and making random observations style, well that comes with certain drawbacks. Patrice O'neal (one of my favorites) had the same style and he always rolled with the punches.

I feel for the people who went to see Dave and weren't being asses but I can't blame him for getting pissed cause I think this is pretty much a example of all his standup shows since the first season of TV.

Went and saw Dave tonight. The dude absolutely killed it. Wish he would have went on for more than the 40 minutes that he did but he was awesome. He addressed the Connecticut thing right off the bat and had fun with it.

If you were in Connecticut for his show, then I feel bad you had to go to a show like that.

It's like when you're with a group of friends and you're telling a story, and everybody is listening in, except the one guy that's waiting for you to say something so he can say "THAT'S WHAT SHE SAID!" But instead of doing it once, he keeps repeating it over and over and over again. Ruining the story you're trying to tell the rest of your friends.

It gets annoying. It's funny once, but saying it over and over again is really annoying. Now imagine a bunch of drunk idiots repeating "I'm Rick James b*tch!" repeat the same line for the next 20 minutes. Would you really continue?

Like I said, it sucks for the rest of the audience that was there to enjoy the show, but the crowd deserved it if they didn't stop 5 minutes into it. You're there for a performance, you're suppose to shut up and let the performer perform.

If you were in Connecticut for his show, then I feel bad you had to go to a show like that.

Punishing a "crowd" for a couple of drunk idiots is bull****. Dave threw a tantrum like a whiny bitch. There are TONS of other instances where a crowd gets unruly but the performer carries on. Even if you bomb at least you didn't quit, I can respect a guy trying and failing, can't respect a grown man who pouts.

I sort of see both sides of the spectrum here. I'm not a comedian, but when you have a past as notable as Chappelle's, you have to be prepared for the occasional outburst from idiots like this.

I find it funny that Dave created the monster himself and made a lot of money off of a few stupid skits on a television show and then they bite him in the ***. Not that I don't love his show or think the guy is funny.. I reference the show from time to time and think it's hilarious.

That would be like that idiot fake redneck Larry The Cable Guy complaining because the audience were being obnoxious and shouting stupid phrases and sayings that made him a lot of money and him getting mad and walking off stage.

With all that being said, I can't say I would have handled it differently, but I don't know if I find it as simple as doing what he did.. I'm not a comedian or a performer so they may look at it differently, but from the outside looking in I think it could have been handled differently.

Was he the only act here or was it some sort of multi-comedian festival type thing ? If it was just him, I would have to ask for my money back.. If he wasn't the only act, I would have just let it go and been pissed at the idiots causing the commotion.

It's too bad they couldn't just remove them and let everyone win, who deserved to be there and listen to his stand up.

I'm not going to fault the performer for their response to an unruly, disrespectful, and immature crowd. We all know Dave doesn't handle the celeb status very well. ****, he split in at the beginning of season 3 of a show that pretty much blew up the previous season and skits were turned into real-life memes before those things even started.

Dave seems to be more in-tune with how things work as evidenced with the first two seasons of his show (which contain a bunch of skits I would label as "genius"). I wouldn't expect anyone - a professional performer or otherwise - to stand up in front of a crowd and perform new/different material for an audience that is essentially yelling and berating the man with punch-lines and one-liners from almost ten years ago. Those people aren't fans and I wouldn't give them the satisfaction of a performance when they obviously weren't interested in one.
