    Rdio

Anyone use this? I downloaded yesterday and am on a free trial for a bit.

I am able to listen to music at both of my jobs, and my library is getting tired. I'm constantly on the look out for new music, but don't have the money to buy it all or the time and desire to download it either.

$5/mo compared to $10/mo of Spotify. I tried to gather information but there wasn't too much. Seems the biggest difference is in the user interface, with Rdio being much cleaner. I had Spotify's app for the free radio, don't recall the interface being that big a deal. But the cheaper price tag for Rdio works for me.

A big plus is that it scrobbles to my last.fm. I love having my plays tracked.

So far, I dig it. I have run into a few instances of bands not being in the database, but I listen to relatively obscure music. The app does lag a bit sometimes, and it crashed on me. Nothing that will keep me away from it though. Really, my biggest hang-up is how much data it's going to use and how much battery it kills. Otherwise, I'm pretty satisfied. $5/mo is affordable even for me and I think I listen to so much music it's a justified purchase.

Did you get a deal? I looked at the pricing and it's the same as Spotify, except Rdio doesn't offer it free on the PC all the time - http://www.rdio.com/pricing/

Wow, yeah it's $5 for Rdio Web. Which Spotify is free (but I think limited hours a month).

      Rdio for mobile is $10.

      Crappity crap.

I have a feeling it will kill my data at work anyway, not being on wifi. I only have 2GB a month and I had eaten .5 after using this for one 5 hour shift.

Good look on the heads up. Can't believe I didn read the fine print. It was too good to be true.

Digging even deeper, if you subscribe from your iPhone, it's $14.99 (I think $9.99 after). Reason being: Apple charges you $5 to subscribe through them. What crap! lol

Maybe I'll look into a mobile hot spot thing, and bite the bullet on $10 a month. Still waiting for this promotion at work.. but now I've got a more expensive wedding then I thought to pay for too. Gotta have my tunes, though!

Not sure if Rdio can do this, but on Spotify you can sync songs to your phone and go into offline mode. So it's playing the songs straight from your device and not using any data.

          Rdio

It does have an option for that, but I believe it eats space. Which I have like none of. Though if I use these services, I can delete some of my library from my phone. Like 80% of my phones storage is from holding music.

16GB seemed like so much a year and a half ago!

I'm still learning. At this point, I may be more inclined to use Spotify's app if the pricing is equal. They say the music libraries are close enough, but I'm finding less and less on Rdio then I can find on Spotify. And the UI on Rdio is supposed to be great, and I'm still getting used to it, but it doesn't seem as streamlined as it was made out to be. That said, I've used Spotify's app only rarely, so it could be worse. I'll have to take some time out to do that.

            Re: Rdio

I've been using this for a couple months. I chose it because of the interface. You can scroll through your "collection" (library) by artist - the same way you would on an Apple device.

I purchased on my computer at work, so it was only $9.99/month, but I only use it from my phone.

I've experienced the slight lag at times, too. But overall, I'm very satisfied. I kind of expected it to delay including some new release albums, but I've been pleasantly surprised several times.

              Re: Rdio

I've all but decided to ditch this when my trial runs out. For what I listen to, Spotify blows Rdio out of the water as far as having that in their library.

The knock on Spotify compared to Rdio is UI, but I messed with Spotify for a few moments and it was actually easier to me. It's not like I'm used to it either, I've used it maybe 3-4 times. The tabs are right there though, I don't get where it is so confusing? If anything Rdio is with windows on windows, specifically when trying to find related artists.
