War of the Worlds (2005) Movie is basically over for me once they get to Tim Robbin's place. I love it up till then (ok, minus the ultra annoying son).

Knowing - Thought it was a great movie until the ridiculous ending pretty much completely ruins it.

I'll beg to differ on that one. I still think it was one of the best crafted horror movies I've ever seen.

There are a few things I would change though, starting with a better sequel. Yeesh!

This is a good one. Watched it for the first time a couple months ago. 1st 90 minutes, I was all in. After that, I found myself distracted by internet/texts/etc.

Well there was this one video I watched on por--actually nevermind.

There isn't a movie that comes to mind right now, but since some TV shows have been mentioned, of course I have to throw Dexter out there. Probably one of the best examples of starting off so well and with so much potential and then completely going downhill at the end.

I actually look at it even more disappointingly after just finishing Breaking Bad last night. It's funny what happens when you actually give people what they want and expect.

            Apocalypse Now.

Still one of my favorite movies of all time because of how awesome the first 90 minutes are, but I've always found the ending to be unsatisfying.

I'd only agree with you about Seinfeld's VERY LAST episode.

As for a movie Pretty Woman comes to mind. A totally blah, unimaginative ending.

For me it has to be No country for old men.

Amazing movie, but one of the quietest and most uneventful endings I've seen.

                  Re: In your opinion..

I used to feel the same way as you guys about FMJ but the last time I watched it fairly recently I realized how important the second half is to the movie. Sure it is a change of pace but it fits so well and shows you the different sides of war.

Sure other movies have illustrated the horrors of war but nothing that I can think of shows you the progression from boot camp to "the ****". To me seeing that progression of the characters makes it a great movie from start to finish.

Progression is a wonderful thing in all forms of art, but especially cinema, tv and music. Without progression things become quite stale.

Now as for the question in the OP I'd have to say The Matrix Revolutions.

They should have just saved the cheerleader and saved the world and been done with it.

I really like TV series that have a defined number of episodes and tell the story and have a definite starting point and ending point. American Horror Story season 1 is a good example and the current HBO show True Detective.

Lost and Heroes were probably 2 of my favorite shows ever during the first season, but as time went by, the writers appeared to have lost focus and were making episodes for the sake of making episodes instead of telling the story. And they ended up with a mess on their hands.

Revenge would have been a good 1 season or 2 at the most show. But as time went by, they were just writing episodes. Now they are getting revenge on everyone from the village barber to the lawn service guy I lost interest and don't even care anymore.

When it comes to TV shows I think of True Blood. The first couple of seasons were great, but since then I think it has gone down hill. It's not bad, but it is not anywhere near as good as it was.

Yeah, its too bad, that show was pretty awesome in the first year, season 2, was meh, season 3 was good, and then downhill from there.

It will be pretty interesting to see how long Boardwalk Empire can last. That show is still awesome.

Eventually though, every TV series or book series will fizzle out unless the writers had a clear path in sight and ending drawn up from the get go.

Actually the next season is the last season for that show also. Made me mad, True Blood, Boardwalk Empire, and Sons of Anarchy all ending the same year.
