Bcc Mail..Avoiding it ending up in recipient's spam folder

A friend of mine owns a school supply shop in nearby Metarie (LA). He's sending a monthly email out to 150 customers, and he wanted to know how to prevent the recipients from seeing each other's email addresses. The easy answer is to use Bcc, while putting his own email in the "To:" slot. I knew about the pitfalls of doing this as the email might end up in some recipient's spam folder. After some testing with non-customers everything seemed to work, but I received one from him today that hit my spam file. The two I sent to me yesterday worked, so my filter seemed to adjust.

Any way to work around this? He uses AOL.

Therein lies the problem.

Ha I'm really not sure. I need to check my spam folder more often because things seem to hit there all the time. I haven't really heard of such a thing otherwise.

Was today's email content that hit your spam folder exactly the same email that passed through yesterday?

Filters work on the wording in the email so the contents of the email matter as much as the to or bcc field. Multiple "test" emails can get filters to catch on. There's no foolproof way around filters. You're going to lose some percentage no matter what.

That's where services like Constant Contact can take email marketing for small companies where they can't easily go themselves.

Was today's email content that hit your spam folder exactly the same email that passed through yesterday?

The body of the three I sent yesterday, were "pop", "test 43-43", and "test 65". The one that he sent me today that ended in spam said "hey".
