The Walking Dead: Graphic Novel Edition

Since we have such controversy in the TV show thread regarding comic book content, it makes sense for the books to have a thread of their own. They're their own entity, so this is a place where we can talk about what has happened in the comics, and what we would like to see come to the tv show, but mainly about the comics themselves.

I personally am just about to start Vol. 20, All Out War: Part 1. Things are about to get heavy I speculate. Not sure if I want to start it until Vol. 21 is out so I don't have a cliffhanger. Also noticed through the war Kirkman is releasing an issue about every 2 weeks. 12 issues over 7 months. Can't wait.

I think we tried to have one based on the comics before and it didn't take off. I am way behind though. Issue 106 was the last one I read.

I actually got to read every issue for free up until like 90 or something like that. I found The Walking Dead app and someone posted their login info in the reviews so I was able to download all those issues for free. There is no reason I stopped. I kind of hated the month wait since the first 90 issues I was able to read as quickly as I wanted. Now that I am so far behind I might start buying the issues again.

I think he feels the pressure of the show catching up to the comic faster than he realized. He must be under alot of stress trying to be similar and different with the story at the same damn time.

I kinda fell off the comics around the most recent wars. I have alot of catching up to do. Im thinking about starting all over since I've honestly forgotten about 90% of what has happened thus far. The month between issues didn't help things.

It looks like ComiXology is running specials. Volumes are $5.99 instead of $14.99 (except for the latest volume) and all issues except for the last 3 are just .99 cents. Good time for me to catch up.

I think RK is feeling a lot of pressure from in too, despite him saying the contrary. The show is going 16 episodes a year, and he's putting out 12 issues a year. And since there's a lot of things that are a big deal in the books, but would suck on tv, they need to just do big storylines on tv, like the one now on tv. Plus to get to Negan on tv is still a season away.

I'm thinking about restarting after the war is over. I bought the 1st and 2nd compendium and got through those, and then started buying the volumes. Seems more efficient then buying the monthlies.

I've only read as far as the Alexandria neighborhood and where Rick gets his gun back after that dude he suspected of abuse (rightfully so) kills Douglas' wife. I wanted to sort of pace w/ the show, but over the break before season 5 I think I will finish compendium 2 and probably read "The Road to Woodbury" novel.

Just finished up volume 20/issue 120. Wow, that's all I'll say. Can't wait for the next volume. Almost tempted to track down monthlies. Don't want to wait.
