Both the Comcast and At&t deals really aren't getting rid of a competitor, so I don't see them being stopped because of monopoly concerns. Comcast doesn't offer cable in overlapping areas. At&t Uverse TV only has about 5 million to 20+ million for DTV and At&t is only in a small part of the country so they are buying to expand and become nation wide.

At most I see At&t having to get rid of Uverse and Comcast having to sell off all their TV production/channels that they own.
Thanks to AT&T I can't get Verizon down here. It's Comcast or bust. Hell, I still remember Adelphia .

That's caused by the wire owners, which At&t is actually trying to get out of. I believe they will be going wireless or at lest trying to in the next few years. They will never be able to get national coverage for internet without doing it.

I hope this is more of a partnering than a traditional merger. I just switched from Comcast to DirecTV/Verizon.

I really wish there was a way for more telecomm companies to exist.
