I think Superman being celebrated more will come in the future. From the very beginning, Man of Steel was about making first-contact with an alien -- not just any alien, but one that is like a god in this day and age. Take away your knowledge of who you know this guy is and I believe most people would react with concern.

My main gripe with Man of Steel is the lack of a fallout from that battle with Zod and the Phantom Zone prisoners; BvS is that reaction. While I would've preferred a solo Superman film to handle that reaction, I can also see what the creators are saying when they say Man of Steel started the universe and now BvS is the gateway for all these other guys to chime in on this god-like being. Based on all the info we have, Superman is the first publicly known hero -- or super-threat for the opposing view -- and now all these other guys are making themselves known.

I get that shes has a backup dancer in the Thor movies, but damn that would have been a SLAM DUNK cast from my pov. But whats done is done and Gal Gadot is our girl. She still looks thin as hell but hey, who says Wonder Woman HAS to be full figured? Shes more than looks, I just hope Godat kills it with her performance.

Anyway, Luthor's line about "The Red Capes are Coming", very easy to write it off as a clever reference to Paul Revere and the Red Coats. But something tells me he uses the plural "capes" intentionally. I dont know too many people who can throw Wonder Woman around that easily, and I find it hard to think Superman will attack Wonder Woman for any reason whatsoever.
This is who I was trying to think of also when I said Rhonda. I knew there was some women I've seen in some movie or TV show and couldn't remember which one it was or who she was. Now I remember watching Agents of Shield the episode when she was on it thinking she would be perfect for Wonder Women. It's struck me more there than watching the Thor movie because she stood out more without Thor and the others from Asgard

I still like man of steel my self. I don't love it but I like it. I loved the soundtrack and the action was good and I liked the way they used his will dad in the movie with the ship and ever thing but the movie also did a lot of things bad like the papa kent stuff.

It definitely could, I just would've liked to be able to celebrate him before we go after him. It's more realistic this way to represent the cynicism of the real world, but as I said, Superman isn't realistic, he doesn't fit in the real world. They're trying to put a square peg in a round hole. Every hero can't be conflicted, brooding, and Batman.

I see what you're saying with the fallout. My biggest problem with Man of Steel is the fact that we don't get to see Superman grow or react to the destruction. He just shrugs it off, and then they fast forward, and he's chucking satellites to the ground. It's just not Superman, I'm hoping he becomes more "beacon of hope" in BvS.

Gina Carrano would have been fine. Certainly no worse than Gadot who's no Meryl Streep herself.

Wait, Acting?...... All she's done is movies where she looks mean as ****. Even in fast and furious she was weird during obvious joke scenes.

She did have speaking roles and she did fine in them, no worse than Gadot though was my point. I don't get when people dismiss people like Carrano for WW based on acting ability, when A) it's a superhero film, stellar acting isn't mandatory, B) she hasn't really shown herself to be a terrible actress in the roles she's had so far and C) they ACTUALLY did cast Gadot who's acting we've seen hasn't been special in the least and has mostly consisted of her looking pretty for the crowd that likes the skeleton model type with a few lines here and there. But what's done is done, she's locked up for like three movies I think, she's not going anywhere. I'm just not sold on her thus far.

It really the writing, and secondarily the directing that sets the stage for the quality of the performance for most actors. Titanic is the perfect example. If I didn't know that Dicaprio and Winslet were top shelf actors beforehand and my first exposure to them was Titanic, I would have thought that they were both garbage.

Neither Gadot or Carano have ever had material that gave them a real opportunity to see what they are made of. So both probably have greater potential than what we've seen. Great scripts lift all actors.

I would have liked to see Carano too, because of the top shelf physicality she would have brought to the role, but with her being Cavil's ex, TWICE, she was probably never going to get a call.

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

Excellent points on Carrano. I thought she was perfect for the role.
Maybe her failed relationship with Cavill had something to do with it?

More than likely it did. I didn't even think about it honestly. I just had her and Jamie Alexander as the two people that most fit the part as opposed to Gadot.

I don't know what kind of superhero movies you like but I want my superheros to be acted well. To say that it's "just a superhero movie and thus, the acting doesn't need to be great" is an insult to comic book fans who want these things that they love to be translated well on-screen.

Yeah, if you're still in the mindset that "superhero movies don't need good acting" you haven't been paying attention to the last ten years of superhero movies. They aren't just big explosions with cheesy action anymore. They'll never be considered for Oscars (Heath not withstanding), I'm sure, but they need to have good acting to compete these days.
