Re: Batman Vs Superman - Dawn Of Justice

Bought the extended version last week and finally watched it over the weekend. It definitely flows better, and seeing Clark investigate Batman balances it more. The theatrical version, you get Batman's angst toward Superman but you never really feel it the other way. The extended version remedies that.

I still think it would have been a better movie if they saved Doomsday for later. Have Lex stay in the background pulling strings, Batman fight Superman with Wonder Woman (instead of Lois) being the one to step in and get them all on the same page.

I don't think the movie was as bad as it was made out to be I did watch the extended version, I have hope the DC cinematic universe will flourish I did like the post apocalyptic scene that put off an Injustice vibe

Yes. I know you posted after us so you must have read the impressions, but start from post #1425 and go from there. I can't say that many people posted, but I left some small impressions there.

Still a turd of a third act, but I now enjoy the first two acts much more.

I should've sent you my 3D version. The film is mostly too dark to take advantage of all the greatness 3D would normally offer.

That's not the reason I'm careless about it, though. The real problem is the 3D version is the theatrical version. I'm guessing it would've been a pipe dream to be the extended cut anyway, because they probably would have had to do it on two discs like Titanic (unless Titanic used 25GB BD's), and they likely did not do any post-conversion on the extended scenes since that wasn't what made theaters.

Re: Batman Vs Superman - Dawn Of Justice

Really late to the party. I'm a huge superman fan and I guess I didn't have much interest in this film because Batman always has to beat-up Superman. It's gotten old.

But I found the BR, extended version on sale for $13 and thought, what the heck.

I really enjoyed this film. I had read the extended version is much better than the theatrical due to the extra scenes tying the film together. A friend of mine said the theatrical version felt disjointed but the Directors cut remedied that.

I like how they're leading up to a Justice League film. Cameo's by Cyborg, Flash and Aquaman were great.
And the visions Batman had clearly lead fans to believe there is going to be an Injustice film along the way.
My son has read all the graphic novels of that series and I've had a few peaks myself.
I really like that storyline. It's very dark for Superman, but hopefully the producers/directors can pull it off.

Saying all that, I do have to wonder how a Superman trilogy would look if done in a different light.
Marvel seems to have designed a winning formula - one that is working very well for them.
I don't feel the same about the DCU. It doesn't feel as cohesive. Almost like they're just mashing things together without a clear vision in front of them.
I was a Marvel kid growing up (Spiderman being my fav), but I think DC has the more unique hero's. They have better content to work with, yet they can't seem to get out of their way.
Maybe others don't feel the same, but in some respects, I wonder if DC would be better off rebooting everything and having a clear, precise plan.
Saying that, I'm really looking forward to the Shazam/Black Adam movie. Shazam is a really cool character, as is BA. I would LOVE to see them in a film with Superman.

                      Nice synopsis.

I was a DC kid and huge Superman fan. Grew up on the Christopher Reeve Superman movies ( Superman and Superman II being the only two with any redeeming quality). I did enjoy Man of Steel immensely. Batman vs Superman...not so much. I do own the Directors cut and it is a good movie but it is a little over bloated and slow in too many parts.

I agree about the DCU. Seems like they are not clear. I am looking forward to the Justice League though. I also like the darker angle of DC. Nolan's Batman trilogy for my $$$ is the very best of any comic book hero movies.

When it comes to Marvel I think Guardians of The Galaxy and Ant Man (as well as the Captain America Movies) are superior to everything else Marvel has put out (also loved Sam Rami's Spiderman I and II). Also the frist 2 X-Men movies and First Class. The first Avengers was good. Ironman I also, but everything else has been OK (have not seen the latest X-Men or Dr Strange).

It's pretty cool we have all these comic book movies now.
