Agree with everything said in this forum, we lost one of the greats today...a powerful women..not just in speech but her presence.

I had the pleasure and honor of meeting her in Atlanta when I was working at Harris Teeter in the Buckhead area while going to college. There were a few stars and athletes that came to that store. She always had the reputation of not liking to be bothered, mean to some even.

I approached her while she was shopping, smiled (which is not something I do to often) called her Mrs Angelou "of course" and simply said I just wanted to introduce myself and say it's a pleasure to meet you and shook her hand, didn't even think of asking for an autograph.

Basically approached her with respect which I felt is all she wanted from people anyway. She said thanks nice meeting you and asked if I was going to college...told her I was going to the Art Institute of Atlanta and she said nice and good luck. Hope you reach your dreams, very short but also very sweet, meant a lot.

Saw her a few more times and if she came my way just spoke and she spoke back. Again we lost a special one folks
