Edge of Tomorrow (Tom Cruise, Emily Blunt)

I'm surprised there isn't a thread already about this movie given it's concept. Although I probably wouldn't have seen it if it didn't have such a high aggregate score on Rottentomatoes. And it's difficult to convey the movie's complexity in a 30-sec tv spot. Or even the movie trailer itself, which I wasn't too impressed with.

Without giving too much away about the plot, the movie's sort of a cross between Groundhog Day and Call of Duty, with maybe a little Gears of War thrown in (in terms of the military exoskeletons used). The movie has one of the best/original science fiction concepts I've seen in a movie in years imo. Tom Cruise is excellent; his progression in the movie from where he starts to what he becomes is very believable and really well done. I've always liked Emily Blunt and she's great in the movie also. As is Bill Paxton as a Cmd Sergeant Major. I really liked the aliens' design and their "alien" movement.

Movie has everything a great summer movie should have, except buzz - it's very entertaining. It's laugh out loud funny at times, as Tom Cruise's character is "learning" - reminded me of how you die repeatedly trying to advance in a videogame level, learning a little more with each play through. The movie's directed by the guy that did one of the Bourne Identity movie's and the direction's excellent; things never get repetitive or seem to drag. It probably won't get a big box office here as some people don't like Tom Cruise for whatever reason; imo he's up there as one of the great movie stars of today. For me the movie's up there with Captain America Winter Soldier as the most entertaining movies I've seen this year. May go to see it again next week
HBO's "The Wire" should rank as one of the top 10 shows EVER on tv - period

Saw it this weekend, and I enjoyed it. Cool premise. Solid acting and action sequences. The movie never gets boring--has a good pace to it. My only gripe was the lackluster 3D experience.

The trailer was terrible lol. I seriously skipped this movie my last day in Manila because of the trailer.

I been hearing great reviews though. One of those movies that probably gain good numbers the next week

I really liked this movie a lot....Saw it Thursday night after midnight and it didn't disappoint.

Like others have said the acting all around was amazing...love the story and concept...And can easily be a sequel in the future...

Just saw it and I really liked it. Really funny in the beginning with all the repetitions, but it's nice to see Tom Cruise as normal coward guy before he becomes typical Tom Cruise action hero. Emily Blunt as the alpha female was also refreshing, and you don't get a tacked on love story just because.

          8/10.

I'm surprised there's this much of a positive reaction to it. It looked mildly interesting from the trailer and just based on the concept alone. Plus I happen to be someone who really likes Tom Cruise movies.

Also, I get why they changed the name of the movie from All You Need Is Kill but that would have been such a badass name to keep.

I like Tom Cruise as an actor so i'll probably go see this one as the trailers seem intriguing.

I thought this was really good. Not many dull moments, pretty good storyline, a few funny moments that aren't really forced, good acting by Blunt/Cruise.

Certainly a movie I'd watch again.

Very good movie that I recommend even if you aren't a Sci-Fi fan. Watching it felt much like paying a video game and having to keep starting over and remembering what you did wrong the last time to just get a little farther.

I really wasn't planning on seeing this, but enough positives in this thread convinced me to take a chance today.

I wasn't disappointed. I thought it was really good.
