Re: The Leftovers (HBO)
Alright, now this was the first episode I consider well-done. Well-written.
Still have plenty of questions.
Things are starting to really cook now. The police chief definitely engaged in some debauchery with his daughter's friend. She was just chillin at the house with no bra on. Yikes.Comment

Re: The Leftovers (HBO)
I was watching with my sister (which makes sex scenes a little more awkward!), and she's always bitching about how the daughter's friend is never wearing a bra, haha.
I got the sense that she drugged him or something. He didn't seem all that interested in her, but she definitely is interested in him. "Hey I'm just gonna chill at your house alone with your dad!"University of Minnesota Golden Gopher Hockey

It's slightly implicated, but I'm not entirely sure that's what happened during his blackout/dreaming.Alright, now this was the first episode I consider well-done. Well-written.

I am so intrigued to see what he sees within that Nat Geo magazine. The hugging guru has girls spread out all over the place pregnant with his children, odd.
I am beyond invested into this show now, it's a borderline obsession. Keeps getting better & better the deeper into their rabbit hole they take us.Comment

Re: The Leftovers (HBO)
Its a pretty mediocre show. But I'll watch it. At least its different, I'll give it that. Most likely in the end, I'll look back and say, yep it was a pretty bad to mediocre series. I thought the episode before this last one was probably the best of the series so far. The crazy grandpa angle doesn't intrigue me, I'm semi interested in the Wayne subplot. I like Nora's character a lot, and I don't mind seeing random acts of violence against the Guilty Remnant.Chalepa Ta Kala.....Comment

Re: The Leftovers (HBO)
I started watching because of you guys and so far so good - but...
The smokers clan is just ridiculous and here's why:
what is the allure? I'm thinking if I'm there, what do they have that I want? Why would I want to join? Also since they don't work, who/what is their BIG financial backing? I can understand things are to be revealed, but basically I know as much as any new joiner/intrigued person and from the outside it just seems creepy and negative no?Liquor in the front, poker in the rear.Comment

Re: The Leftovers (HBO)
I'm not sure they would need a huge financial backing. Imagine if they have 100 members and they all vowed to hand over their assets. If they each had net worth of $100K, that would be $10,000,000. That church they bought was only $130,000.I started watching because of you guys and so far so good - but...

They probably do have someone or something backing them, but most of these people are adults who probably had jobs, houses, etc, before deciding to smoke and be mute.
Think if they recruited that Nora, she's got $$ coming out of her ears. If she signed it all over to the looneys, that's a lot of smokes and cheap white Walmart clothes.Chalepa Ta Kala.....Comment

Either way - even without the money - taking it right out of the equation, I still don't see the allure of joining. There is no message, there is no purpose, just creepy smoking wal-mart wearing zombies lolLiquor in the front, poker in the rear.Comment

For sure. The Pines and Wayward are two of my favorite books. Still gotta read the third one.
It's being made into a series in 2015 on FOX as well.Comment

IIRC, people got money for "compensation" if they had a member of their family depart on the 14th. Since her whole family departed, she got quite a bit of money in compensation.University of Minnesota Golden Gopher Hockey
