Me and my sister's family plan to watch it. To be honest, I don't expect much from this movie.

Just like the first two Hobbit movies....I'll blind-buy the Blu-Ray because I want to complete the collection and be disappointed with the movie.

Re: The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies

I've been hearing a lot of people saying this "could" be the best of the six movies. I was comparing LOTR and The Hobbit to a friend last night and another big fan of the series walked up and said that this film might put The Hobbit in conversation with LOTR. We shall see, I'm pumped and will be seeing this first thing I can.

I don't get the naysayers about this movie. LOTR generally has not disappointed.

Idk if the last 2 Hobbit movies have had the same feel as the original trilogy, but they have still been pretty good movies imo.

Re: The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies

Saw this movie today, it was pretty good. If you liked the other hobbit movies you'll like this.

Sad that there really isn't any more content to cover with the movies because I thought they were all very well done. But I'll be getting Shadow of Mordor for Christmas so that will be alot of fun come Christmas day.

Hopefully they can put something together in the future that bridges the time gap between the Hobbit and LOTR. There is a pretty good backstory to be had on Saruman switching to the darkside as well as what Aragorn and Gollum were doing in the years leading up to the LOTR.

Haven't seen this yet, but is there content they can still cover if they go years before these 6 movies I believe.

No. God no. I don't want to see them making up ****. I love the Middle Earth setting but if I had to choose between this being the last adaptation of anything related to it and seeing more with story made up by Hollywood, I'd choose the former every time. If Tolkein were still alive and offering input or if they had full cooperation from his estate even, that would be fine. I'm against it otherwise personally.

I took the family out to see this yesterday and even though I was always against them stretching it to three films, I'm satisfied in the end for the most part. The battle scenes were great and so were the visuals in general. Although I am seriously not a fan of the romance they inserted I don't have too many other gripes that I can't see justification for.

Yes there is, The Silmarillion. It's actually the greatest book IMO(even though it's incomplete), and I enjoy it the most. It's mostly about events that took place thousands of years before The Hobbit and LotR. I would love to see an adaptation of it whether it be a movie series or a big budget TV mini-series. If Jackson was in charge he'd probably turn it into 9 films considering how much he stretched the Hobbit. The Tolkein estate owns the rights though and it doesn't look like they're willing to sell them anytime soon, especially if plans are for Peter Jackson to be in charge.

Re: The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies

Tolkein has already started that this will be the last time Peter Jackson touches any of the families work. The Silmarillion would be hard to make a movie on in my opinion. There's a ton of information and it's written in a very complex nature. The tough part is, not many people have read the Silmarillion like some of us have. By far one of the most beautiful works of writing I've ever read.

We obviously don't want some cheezeball just making stuff up, but I think there is enough there to piece together a story of Aragorn, Sarumon, Sauron and the search for the ring between the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings. There are Tolkien historians that I would trust to make the story viable. They could also tell about the White council of the 5 wizards, what lies to the east and the north, etc. Its fascinating stuff.

Saw it today and I thought it was really good, the battle scenes were pretty awesome and it tied everything together.

Still way too much CGI which at times kind of ruins the vibe, but I guess it what is in that department.
