Ipad setup question

Hi Guys

I purchased a Ipad yesterday ( Finally,lol ) and have some questions before setting it up tonight.

I have a iphone already so I can just use my apple ID correct? I wont have to bother with setting up a new account

Can any apps I purchased for my phone be re downloaded again free for my ipad?

And alos another question ( hope it doesn't sound too confusing but I'm sure you will get what Im trying to say ) When I set up the messenger how do I prevent the message going to both phone and Ipad at the same time? or doesn't it do that?

As you can see I have alot of newbie questions, and you folks are great here so that's why I wanted to ask here and not at some tech forum. Here its just nice and laid back.

Looking forward after work to setting it up, one last thing should I have it plugged in when setting everything up as Im sure they dont have that much charge in them when they come from the factory.

You can use the same apple ID...As far as apps purchased, I think it's only the iPhone version, not the iPad version. I only get people who have iMessage on both devices.
