Re: Top 10 HBO Series of All Time
First, for those of you who have never seen Oz, it is definitely in the discussion with The Wire, Boardwalk Empire, Sopranos. If people were big into discussions about these on message boards back then like they are now, it'd get more respect. Great, great series.
Don't want to repeat a lot that are already out there so I'll just mention some that should be at least on the list.
Sex in the City - Yes, it's a show for women... it's also incredibly well done and enough nudity to keep guys interested.
The Life and Times of Tim - Not enough episodes to crack a top 10 list but it's as funny as any of my Adult Swim shows.
Big Love - underrated
The Corner - Should we call it the prequel to The Wire? Very different (more depressing) overall feel, but very compelling series about a true story. And yes, the story and success of it helped spark The Wire. This is a short one so definitely worth some binge watching if you haven't seen it.
Spawn - so so sad when this was done... and that horrible movie that came out on the heels of it. This is not the "cartoon" you watch with your kids.
Def Comedy Jam - doesn't even belong in this discussion but it was an HBO series, and anyone that remembers, it was revolutionary and weekly must watch television.Comment

Re: Top 10 HBO Series of All Time
The Sopranos
Entourage
Oz
The Wire
Curb Your Enthusiasm
Veep
Da Ali G Show
Def Comedy Jam
How to Make It in America
Hard Knocks
No particular order. Was a toss up between Hard Knocks and Real Sports. True Blood would have made the list had it not turned to total ****.Comment

Re: Top 10 HBO Series of All Time
Would you consider 24/7 a series? Much better than the actual fight majority of the time

Re: Top 10 HBO Series of All Time
I also don't think either are something you'd watch after the event (after the fight or after the movie is out) so I wouldn't include them here since it seems like the idea is to find something to watch now. But I agree, it is often better than the fight (or at least gets you pumped for fights).Comment

Debating if it's it fair to include Band of Brothers on this list as it was a miniseries(probably the GOAT in that category for any network). The Sopranos should be near the top of everyone's list. Game of Thrones has been climbing(as is True Detective) and when all said and done could be number 1.Last edited by 2KUte; 11-07-2014, 03:53 AM.Comment

Not fair leaving off The Wire though.Comment
