Hoffman was in it in his needed scenes. His character is a minor one. Not important to the plot. To answer your 2nd question, I think so. I think that's the standard for most movies now-a-days.

He was in it a good bit throughout the movie. I didn't notice any cgi for him and nothing with him seemed incomplete. The film was dedicated to him.

This was a huge disappointment for me. It's obvious it was made only to make some more money from the trilogy. The entire plot of this movie could easily fit in 20 minutes.

But hey, at least the last part will be full of shooting, fighting and other fun stuff.

There are only a handful of films that come to mind that have any IMAX footage whatsoever.

          The Dark Knight
          Transformers: Revenge of the Fall
          Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol
          The Dark Knight Rises
          Star Trek Into Darkness
          The Hunger Games: Catching Fire
          Interstellar

I'm sure I'm missing one or two (besides possibly Mockingjay), but I wouldn't really call it a "norm." 3D would be considered one for sure, but IMAX? Not quite as many, heh.

Huge letdown. Pure money grab. The first two were far better and no comparison to this first of two parts. It is IMO a new scam by Hollywood to make more money when they know full well they could have made this part in one film.

It was just a meandering pile of crap.

So that means part 2 should be a great movie (I hope).

1st movie sucked compared to the books and so far has been the worst of the movies to me. Just left out so much that made it good.

                2nd movie was better.

3rd movie was probably the closest to the book. The book was boring for the 1st half, but it sets up the rest. They also made it a little to lite feeling, Finnick and Katniss both were seriously depressed and crazy.
