I've always been a big fan of this series, even the 3rd and 4th movies are entertaining to me. Just have always loved the plot and time travel stories. So I'm going to see this tomorrow night. I've not watched many trailers after the first one (which I thought was great) because so many say it was spoilerific. I assume it has something to do with John Conner because of those posted movie posters where he is some type of Terminator. That's weird and doesn't seem to fly without seeing the movie, hopefully the film isn't a waste.

One achievement of James Cameron's "Terminator" is that it overcame its low-rent, B-movie trappings. The great sin of "Genisys" is that it costs millions and yet isn't worth a dime.

That's a snippet from a review I saw on this, and even though I have yet to see the film, I think it's in the ballpark. The reviews are terrible, and I predicted from the trailers that this movie would also be terrible. The trailers already gave away half the movie, for one. Maybe the dumbest media promotion in the history of film the way they've given away huge plot details, comedy bits, action sequences, in the trailers alone.

It's trying to act like it is paying tribute to the originals by hand picking scenes from the originals to recreate with a new cast. And then spamming a bunch of CGI nonsense. This film looks like an example of all flash, no substance.

From the moment I heard it was PG-13, I kind of predicted it was going to end up exactly as what it is. Then I saw the casting and I was just like...meh. Jai Courtney as Kyle Reese? Biehn ruled that because he looked like an average "hardened" man. You could buy him being from a bad world where he's seen some things. Courtney looks like a male model and has the charisma of drying paint. And I love Emilia Clarke, though I thought she was miscast from moment one. If it were rated R Terminator with a good script, I could see Emilia doing this. But a PG-13 cartoon parody Terminator, she's just going to seem out of place, like a little kid tagging along. When Sarah Connor is supposed to be one of the most badass heroines in film history.

The whole movie looks like a parody of the Terminator franchise, which is a real shame for something that was once so intense, scary, badass, and well directed. If ever a franchise needed its original helmer back, it is Terminator. It's been failure after failure without him.

Saw it this afternoon, I personally liked it. It was much better than Salvation and 3, which isn't saying much cause those weren't great movies but this one was a more fun ride than those two movies. Some stuff in regards to time travel doesn't make too much sense, but when you get past that, I thought it was a awesome summer movie.

And awesome seeing young Arnie vs old Arnie. If you keep your expecations inline and are looking for a nice action packed movie, this is a good watch.

the timeline got all messed up. Why was the Terminator sent to Sarah when she was 9? Reese asks and Sarah says, "it happened, does it matter how?" So is that the reason?

The thing that bothered me the most was that Sarah and Reese both kind of acted immature. JK Simmons was good, Arnold was too.

I completely agree with you, they overlooked some key plot points which make no sense, almost as if they're leaving the door open for possible sequel.

Again, who da heck sent Arnie back the first time? How does that even make any sense at all when this universe is predicated on time travel and they leave out important details like this?

Why does Reese tell his younger self again to remember if they just stopped the end of the world??? Thinking too hard about it would scramble my mind, I hate that they didn't truly establish sets of rules for the time traveling stuff.

I love Matt Smith, why wasnt he in the movie more. He's so eccentric in every role he has, would of loved to see much more of him

Have any of you guys got a chance to check out the weekend numbers for this movie? They are absolutely horrendous.

With that said, I saw this movie last night, and it was decent. I enjoyed it. It wasn't the best movie of the series, but it was still decent to me.

Yeah the fact that it's a huge bomb, critically and commercially, I would say it effectively ends the Terminator saga with a whimper before Cameron gets the rights back in 4 years. Then we might see a proper Terminator film again.

Saw and liked it! And Emila Clarke is HOT! Sounds like the movie was already OK'd for a sequel and possibly another. There suppose to fill in the holes that we have regarding this new alternate universe. There are now numerous possibilities being thrown out by die-hard fans. Call it SkyNet, Cyberdiene Systems, or Genisys - it keeps looking for ways.

Went to noon showing today only about 10 people.

I am a sucker for the terminator franchise mostly 1 and 2 but still like seeing the machines on the screen. It was a good action flick nothing spectacular or anything but worth watching.

They got to make these movies rated R though , cant have a hot chick like Ameilia Clark who does the naked thing but not show anything but a silhouette .

The wife and I went to see this yesterday, it was a bit ridiculous at times, but all in all we enjoyed it. It was a fun holiday flick.

Worst part of the movie for me was that horrible looking helicopter chase.
