Re: The Expanse (new SyFy series based on the books)
People are celebrating over very poorly written headlines about that. Hollywood Reporter literally says it: 'The Expanse' Revived for Season 4 at Amazon with the first line in the article being 'Amazon Studios is in talks to revive one of CEO Jeff Bezos' favorite properties.'
The reality is they were about to start tearing down the sets and were told to hold off 1 week.
Hopefully big news shortly.Comment

Re: The Expanse (new SyFy series based on the books)
Binged on Seasons 1 and 2, which were free on Amazon Prime. How does season 3 compare? Is it better or worse than the first 2?
I think there are some strong points (the scenery and ships, the production value for a TV show, not trying to over-explain the technology and get bogged down with garbage science, the way they do non-linear storylines) in this series--certainly enough to keep me binge-watching it, but there are some weaknesses (the acting, the repetition, the pacing, the deus ex machina main storyline, the way it's easy to miss something important because they skimp on the details to set up a non-linear storyline).Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

It is official. Amazon picked up The Expanse.
It's been a few days since reports indicated Amazon was close to a deal that would extend the life of sci-fi series The Expanse, and tonight at a National Space Society event Jeff Bezos made it official. Alcon Entertainment makes the show, which is currently airing season three on Syfy, and said in a statement: "We couldn't be more excited that The Expanse is going to continue on Amazon Prime!" The press release confirmed season four, while Bezos said the show will be a Prime Original "for the coming seasons."Comment

I 1000% disagree with everyone of your weaknesses, so I would say that you probably should just opt out.Binged on Seasons 1 and 2, which were free on Amazon Prime. How does season 3 compare? Is it better or worse than the first 2?

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.
Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.Comment

Yeah, halfway through season 3, and it s a continuation of everything so far. I don’t think the show is for you. My whole wife and I are loving it.Comment

Thanks for the responses, I guess? Sorry to be critical of your baby here guys, but I actually did find the first 2 seasons enjoyable enough to watch them both. Not sure that I made that clear.
Some of the acting is pretty bad/melodramatic and they really drag out certain plot points would be my main criticisms. Otherwise watchable and pretty good. They do the whole "goo that can do anything" thing pretty well.Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

Better the whole wife then a half wife lol. I don't know why I found that so funny.

Honestly if you are enjoying it I think Season 3 is great so far. I mean the cons that you've stated haven't really been any different from the first two seasons so if you could deal with that then I think you are fine continuing. It definitely benefits from viewers who have read the books because we can fill in any holes that may get glossed over in the show. It's a lot of info they are trying to cram in and I think they are doing a pretty solid job overall.Comment

I have not read the books and agree that it can be a little difficult to follow at times. But, I think that's mostly by design. Like when they did the whole season 1 finale episode filling you in on who that chick was and why she was important. Same thing with the battle scene that they did on Ganymede that didn't make any sense until they rehashed it from a few different angles. I do think the storytelling--and their use of perspective and time--can be very creative.Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

OK, so I'm about half-way through Season 3 and the guy playing Errinwright must be a pretty good actor because I really hate his guts. Also thought his name was "Aaron Wright" at first, lol.Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

He's one of those actors that if he's a bad guy you already wish you could punch him in the face and all he's done is sneer at you from across the room.Comment

One thing they do really well on this show is build suspense and tension. And, holy **** the episode that just aired is intense. I'm all caught up to the present and really looking forward to what happens next...Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

Holy **** what an episode. I ****ing love this show so much. Man oh man. I haven't been this amped during a show since GoT last year. So freaking good. And thank you Amazon for saving it. I would have been so bummed to lose this one.

In the past 2 weeks I've gone from "yeah this is a watchable show with some strengths and weaknesses" to buying 7 books on Amazon. Not sure what that says exactly, but maybe it's a really good show after all lol.Holy **** what an episode. I ****ing love this show so much. Man oh man.
