    Fan Duel, Draft Kings etc.

Sorry if there is already a thread about this but I figured I'd start this to share stories about your success, strategies or just any daily discussion on your active teams/leagues.
I have 2 teams going on Fan duel tonight. Historically my biggest winning at one time has only been $25 but it's fun playing because there is always "That Chance" Looking at my winnings I'm at about $126.00....still chasing that big win!
I had a BLAST playing thru the NFL season and am looking forward to playing this MLB season.
I don't think I'm breaking any rules by talking about this as this is not gambling but fantasy sports. There has also been contests ran here on OS and different advertisements. If I'm wrong let me know.

I'm not much of a gambler, so I'm not really wanting to invest too much money into it. I did a free roll the other day. They seem like decent sites, I'm not sure which one is better though.

To me it's basically the same, slight differences site to site. I've played in paid leagues for years in fantasy leagues, you would have to play the whole season then win in order to collect, now with this it's daily so to me it's worth it. Nice little spin on the standard fantasy sports leagues of the past.

Louisiana is one of the handful of states that only allow you to play the free games. That's where I currently live.

None of those type sites including fantasy hosts like RealTimeSports allow participation in money games. A friend of mine plays them, but he has a workaround I'm not getting into.

I didn't know any states did not allow their citizens to play. It's legally not considered gambling since fantasy is considered a game of skill. Weird considering there are so many casinos in Louisiana, but no sports books for it to compete against.

Quite a few (if not a majority of) gambling games are also considered a game of skill.

I lost $30 on Fan Duel and haven't played since. It's fun but I wouldn't go in expecting to break even long-term.

You have to know which games to play based on the amount of money you have to play with. These guys who have hundreds or even thousands of wins to their name also played in just as many games. They enter a larger number of lineups per Sunday (for NFL) in hopes that one of them hits a decent number.

I stick to 50/50 games and if I am feeling adventurous put $1 in a large tournament that doesn't allow multiple entries.

They talk about 50/50 only but there are also double up, triple up, quintuple up games. I did pretty well with those for the NFL (fanduel). I was up almost $700 at the end of the regular season. I won $100 in an OS league, and after that usually only could get $2 or $5 in the other big leagues. The "cash games" have been good to me.

I haven't gotten into the NBA much yet. I probably will after the SB.

I'm struggling with the NBA games for some reason. I had a good run with the NFL season but NBA seems harder to me. I've won nothing close to start bragging about. What I like is with a $20 deposit realistically that could last you the whole week if you play smart. Granted a $2 league the odds are harder to win since sometimes there are 80,000 people your going against. In those leagues 1st place is usually some ridiculously high amount and to me worth the shot. I mean someone is winning those leagues daily I may as well try! Didn't have much luck last night, the best I did was finishing in 2617 place in a 8620 team league.

It is harder... by nature. It's easier to predict production at almost every position in the NFL (besides kicker and defense... maybe TE) and you have more time to research, listen to talking heads, hear about injuries when it's weekly. Basketball players are streakier as well. Plenty more reasons, but short answer is it is harder.

I've been doing fantasy basketball for years, but it's much different bc after the draft, I'm following players for a few days before giving them a shot and my lineup doesn't change all that much. Daily is a lot of work, but I'm gonna see if I can get in a groove with it. If we're struggling, most others have to be too, right? It's all relative.

Can't you win tens of thousands of dollars on Fan Duel, Draft Kings etc.? What would you have to invest to have a chance at that kind of money?

In some leagues you could spend as little as $2-$10 to win $8000-$10000. Granted your going against 90,000 others in those bigger leagues but someone is winning those nightly! I played a few NFL leagues that the entry was $10 and there were a few hundred thousand players entered and the grand prize was like $125,000! Each league is set up different, just find one that is good for you personally.
