Doing pretty good tonight with my two NBA teams. Looks like at the least I'll win $5 which is more than I paid to get in so I'll take it. Here is what haunts me.....if I had 100 points more my $5 would be $10,000! That's what drives me to play over and over lol. Always that chance, on any night, yeah! D.J Augustin had a big night for me, I was hoping he would have a solid game since he's now the starting PG for the injured Brandon Jennings. 35 pts 4 reb 8 assists gave me 49 points.

Re: Fan Duel, Draft Kings etc.

I use FD and I enjoy it. My main sport is NFL and I've done a few NBA/MLB entries.

This past season was my first and I was fortunate to come away on top. My $100 entry became $417 and I was able to cash out after the season.

There are a few things I would say:

      - Do research
      - Do even more research
      - Don't get caught up in winning the "lottery" aka huge tournaments
      - 50/50 leagues are what I think you have the best shot at winning consistently
      - Understand the game rules thoroughly and what it means to own a player at certain percentages

One great thing: the payout was super quick. I got a check in about a week. Very pleased with that and overall their customer service was great.

I'll put another $100 in next season. If anything it's great entertainment.

It all depends how much is in the prize pool. FanDuel takes about 12% off the top so they get their money.

        Here's an example:

        $1 entry
        57,000 entries = $57,000

        Prize pool is $50,000

The top 5-10 make really good money. 1st place probably gets you like $10,000

The top 20% will double their money so you gotta hit that top 20% of the pool to win.

It's like a less risky lottery ticket that you get hours of entertainment out of and there is some skill involved but some will say it's absolute luck.

They have like a $25 entry for NFL with like 110k entries and the grand prize is like $250,000

All I have to say is...somebody wins it every single week. Somebody turns $25 into $250,000...

I tried to sign up for Fan Duel once but Iowa doesn't allow online gambling.

I can do that through TwinSpires just fine but FanDuel and Draft Kings won't let you register if you are in Iowa.

I should have said outside horse racing you can't bet online.

Tonight's games ended up strange. The league I was watching and expecting to win I didn't win anything in although my team played good. My second team I was not watching closely ended up winning me $20 in a league I paid $5 to enter. I finished in 227th place out of 8045 teams. Granted that $20 I won is not breaking the bank it's still very satisfying but the thing that haunts me is I was 33 points away from the first place prize of $4000. That would have been sweet. So close.

Hmmmm...and you were almost in the top 3% of teams for that game. There are a lot of moving pieces here (8045), so I can see how tough it would be to even break the top 50. What did #50 get?

#50 got $40. Again it was only a $5 entry.
                    1st place $4000
                    2nd $2000
                    3rd $1500
                    4th $1000
                    5th $750

Those were the top 5 prizes. Although I finished in the top 250 and only 33 team points away from first place realistically I guess I was still far away. Like you said, lots of moving pieces. It's not easy to finish top 5, I never have but if you do it's a nice payout in most leagues.
