Nope, this has been a slow plodding season with little in the way of payoff for the user. Sad thing is its much worse in the books. If I'm being honest I still have about 100 pages left in A iDance With Dragons (started it around season 2 coming on TV). The writers have tried to slim things down for TV while making blah storylines better. No easy task, but the source material following the events of Season3/4 on TV are pretty terrible from a literary sense.

The good news I guess is that they know where Martin is taking the story so maybe they will get us there faster now that they have pretty much burned through most of A Feast For Crows and A Dance With Dragons with about 3 episodes left this season.

A prequel is like the holy grail for a witcher 3/ skyrim type video game. I would love that.

Iirc, they planned to have a prequel episode originally. There is at least one still I saw from before the show started

It's a nice addition to the books and adds a ton of the history of Westeros. Not necessary at all but if you have some spare $$$ and want to learn more I'd go for it.

It has some pretty cool pictures in it as well (not a ton of them though) like this-

My theory, especially after the extensive Rhaegar/Lyanna Stark talk is that John is the son of Rhaegar and Lyanna and Eddard Stark, who is repeatedly referred to as incapable of infidelity, brought Jon back after the war and said he was his to protect Jon from being killed with the rest of the Targaryeans after Robert took power.


That's my .02.

This is exactly my thoughts. It seems obvious with how they make Ned Stark seem so saint like when it comes to infidelity. It just makes sense. Jon was his nephew/his blood and he had to take care of him regardless of what people thought.
