Harrison Ford Involved in Plane Crash: Reportedly in "Fair to Moderate" Condition

So I just came across this story on Facebook and my heart sunk. This is terrible news to hear at any time about anybody but when I saw it was Ford it was especially frightening.

I'm confused by the story because they said he walked away from the crash but he's in critical condition, not a medical expert obviously, but I didn't know that was possible. I just hope that he makes a full recovery from this.

Harrison Ford was piloting a private airplane that crash-landed today at Penmar golf course in Venice, California.

According to TMZ, the Star Wars and Indiana Jones icon was piloting what appears to be a vintage 2-seater fighter plane when it made an emergency landing. He was the only person aboard the plane.

Ford, the site claims, "suffered multiple gashes to his head and was bleeding. Two doctors who happened to be at the golf course rushed over to treat the actor. Emergency personnel arrived to the scene a short time later. Ford was transported to a nearby hospital."

Variety says Ford is in "critical condition," but walked away from the crash.

A longtime aviator of both planes and helicopters, Ford has assisted rescue personnel and firefighters in the past, especially from his Wyoming home. He's also, as TMZ points out, survived multiple plane crashes in the past.

I hated to hear this, Ford is a close second to Clint Eastwood as my all-time fave actor & just ahead of Bruce Willis. Also, I feel bad to say it, but I'm going to say it anyways, I hope this doesn't delay the new Star Wars movie.

        I'm hearing stable condition.

Now "fair to moderate". I think Variety's first report was "critical".

NBC just reported "serious" condition with several lacerations to the head and possible fractures.

A vintage two seater is a far cry from a private jet.

Thank you, that's exactly what I was about to say. My company has a couple of private jets and after getting a taste of flying out on them, I loathe flying commercial more than ever.

Back to the topic at hand, Harrison Ford is one of my favorite actors so I was glad to hear that he is ok.

I saw this story on the tail end of the local news last night. He did a great job landing that plane without sustaining TOO much damage. Hopefully he'll recover quickly. Ford's got some interesting stories to tell when he does the press junket for SW Episode 7 what with getting his foot hurt during filming and now this.

I guess if you can fly the Millennium Falcon then you can crash land a vintage plane and live.
