HBO Now - Exclusively* through Apple

HBO's standalone subscription service is launching in April exclusively through Apple.

HBO Now will cost $15 a month, with the first month free for early-bird subscribers. It'll be available at the beginning of April.



You won't need an Apple TV to watch it. HBO Now will also work with iPhones, iPads, and even iPod Touch. And it looks like you'll be able to access it through hbonow.com once you buy the service using an Apple product. (So, for example, if you sign up on your iPhone but then you want to watch it on any old laptop, that should work.)



This means people with Apple products will be able to watch Game of Thrones without an HBO subscription when the new season begins April 12.

I'm assuming that's a month-to-month contract. $15 a month for just 1 channel seems steep.... especially considering the pricing that Slingbox has.

That's about even with most cable/tv subscriptions honestly.

With this I would imagine it would be easier to sub for a month, catch up on whatever shows you want, and then cancel.

It's not one channel, it's essentially HBO Go without the cable sub. Not a stream of HBO.

We would have been interested, but aren't purchasing iproducts for it. Will use my other DirecTV account's HBO Go access or we'll resub when Game of Thrones is out.

HBO Now is the same price if not cheaper by a few bucks compared to signing up for the channels w/ a pay provider.

I read on a tech blog on my phone that it's a 3 month Apple exclusive, so expect it to open up a lot in 3ish months

Nah, never got around to sign up. Hardly ever use Amazon and for the price of membership it seemed like a waste of money for me.

The Wire. Get through about 4-5 episodes of season 1 setup and you'll be hooked.
