    Bill Simmons Leaving ESPN

Wonder what he does and if he takes anyone with him.

Grantland will remain. Honestly, it's so much more then Simmons. Dude kinda comes off as a douche, but I respect him for laying the foundation. The content on Grantland is great. A stable of my bathroom and downtime reading library.

I'm not sure why people don't like Simmons. Sure he can be irrational at times, but aren't we all as fans in a way? I've been a loyal follower for probably 7-8 years now and have always enjoyed his rhetoric.

Wouldn't mind seeing him go over to Fox Sports, despite sending some shots at them a couple years ago. Think he would add a lot of value there.

Simmons helped create the best two things going over at the World Wide Leader (Grantland and the 30 for 30 series). Wouldn't be surprised if Yahoo or Bleacher Report make a run at him.

I still can't believe ESPN suspended him for calling Roger a liar. Hopefully his next stop provides more freedom to speak freely.

Yea Grantland will still be great as long as whoever runs it doesn't mess anything up.

Hopefully he goes somewhere else to write and keep his podcast going.

This explains him mailing in his columns this year.

I've always enjoyed his content for what it was. Grantland has, easily, the best staff of sportswriters on the net so I hope nothing much changes.

Yes, in the short term. But many of those writers/editors may look to leave once their contracts end. One of the major media hubs will set Simmons up with a new online venture that will probably give him more autonomy.

Hopefully he goes solo so he doesn't have anyone to answer to when his opinions don't gel with the big bad corp's interests.

I guess he earned enough money to build his own thing, I just hope that no one of the great Grantland guys gets lost. Greenwald, Ryan, Lowe, Bill & Bob, all these guys are just so great that I don't want to miss them.

Bad news for people who want Grantland to continue on. According to unnamed ESPN sources, the site was only profitable because of Simmons related traffic and corporate sponsors. I dont think the sponsorships will continue with its biggest star gone.

I don't like Simmons all that much as he comes off as a real douche moreso on TV than anywhere else though. I think Fox Sports is the best suited venue for him and they'd eagerly set up a Grantland-like multimedia hub for him.

I cannot stand his arrogance and his Boston homerism.

Have people forgotten what he did to Sage Steele on ESPN's post game show? Her face just says it all of his ego and need for control.

It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.

Barnwell is a monster. His opinions of the Bills are rubbish, though!
