    The "Reboots" Thread

Might as well have one.... Hollywood and TV land are doing so many.

    2 noteworthy ones coming are:

Johnny Quest (actually wondered why this wasn't done some time ago --- but please don't be politically correct about it. Hadji is Hadji.)

The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. The series they reference in this article, Penny Dreadful, may also be worth a look. Tom Sawyer was considered? Really?

Just watched the original Hitman last night....it wasn't as bad as people said it was. But this new one looks pretty tough.

      What's the PC thing?

Steve Jobs. There wasn't a poster yet. Michael Fassbender is playing Jobs, and Seth Rogen is playing Steve Wozniak.

I wouldn't call that a reboot just another version of his bio on film.

Anywho I once heard that Hollywood was going to do a reboot of War Games. Not sure how that would play out but with hacking into government resources seemingly being a viable thing I could easily see how a kid could accidentally get into the US nuclear arsenal by accident.

There's a bunch coming or rumored. IT, Honey I shrunk the kids, Flight of the navigator, Police Academy, Drop Dead Fred, Never ending story, Starship Troopers, Cliffhanger, Commando, Highlander, House Party, Scarface, Bloodsport. Pretty much everything that you loved in the past is getting rebooted.

The one that one that I heard that really pissed me off is an American version of The Raid 1 and 2. Guaranteed will not come a mile to the originals.

There should be a reboot of No Escape, the 90s Ray Liotta film.

                Re: The "Reboots" Thread

I'm not in favor of reboots of classics, and rarely, do they ever do well. However, if I had to pick one, many may have heard of the 1963 classic "It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World". A reboot of the comedy directed by Stanley Kramer could work if say you had The cast of Seinfeld in 1 car, cast of Friends in another car? Other possible cast members could include "The Big Bang members", or even "Two and a half men" in their race to find the money "Under the Big W". Lets just say the casting could be tremendous if thought through. It's always good to laugh!

Here, below is the cast from the original movie. An amazing group.

A remake of that movie with that kind of setup would be FANTASTIC! If the writing is done well enough.

I think The Shootist (John Wayne's last film) would be an interesting choice for a remake/reboot with Sam Elliott in the Wayne role.

I don't remember Mad x4 World being funny as much as it was amazing to have all of those characters in the same movie. It seems generally tough to pull off a great movie with an ensemble cast.

Oh man, Johnathan Winters and Ethel Merman were hilarious I thought.....Jim Backus, Jerry Lewis, and The Three Stooges also made cameos in the flick.

I read that's happening, I believe with Chris Columbus writing it. Also Chris is in talks with Spielberg on making a Goonies 2 with some of the original cast. From what I remember it'll be original cast with their kids on an adventure but that was just a rumor.

Love Winters as he's in my top 10 comics of all time, but I don't think the big screen was good to him. He was best when in the spotlight and could unleash his characters on the small screen and stage.

Hope no one tried to make a movie of his life.... can't see anyone playing him.
