    Re: Windows 10

Well crashes started happening pretty frequently as I started using some USB interactions.
Gamegolf and Gopro both crashed forcing restarts.

First there were USB reading errors then eventually. when trying to use the software tied to the GoPro and Gamegolf,... system crashes..

Had zero issues with W7 so I'll be monitoring these closely.

The problem with that are they are severely outdated and it causes your graphics card to not to be able to update itself.

I don't know if it plagued AMD users like it does Nvidia users, but for weeks I couldn't update my GTX 980 after I upgraded to Windows 10. Hell GeForce experience wouldn't even open. Couldn't do manual install of drivers either. But when I went to Nvidia website and Tomshardware, it was a ton of people who had the same problem. Downloaded the driver uninstaller program and ran it to remove all of Windows 10 drivers and was finally able to upgrade my 980 once again and Geforce Experience was working once again.

Yeah, I have an AMD graphics card as well and it auto-prompted me to update the drivers once the Windows 10 install was finished. The driver has apparently crashed and restarted a couple times though.

I've also had a few other issues with Windows 10.

      1. My wired (but not wireless) internet connection keeps going out about once a day and the only way to restore the connection is to restart my PC. It actually went out twice yesterday, both times while watching the N. Carolina vs. South Carolina game on Watch ESPN, after having not gone out the day before. I've checked for driver updated for my ethernet card multiple times using device manager and it always says the most current drivers are already installed. Someone said to check the Bios drivers too, but I'm not really sure where that would be.

      2. My computer has shut itself down unexpectedly multiple times, though each time it has happened I've been away from the computer and it was presumably asleep.

      3. Not sure if this is related to Windows 10 or not, but occasionally a command prompt window (the little window with white text on a black background) flashes on the screen. It only appears for about half a second though so I have no chance to read what it says and it always seems to occur around the same time of day and while I'm using Microsoft OneNote.

Havent had a single issue with Windows 10 since performing a clean install after upgrading.. I have put it through the paces, but it is still working flawlessly.

Where is this driver uninstaller program you speak of? (Say this in that cool Russian spy voice to make more interesting).

Oh and since my wife wanted this on her old laptop (currently 7), I DL'd the media creation tool for her 64 bit device and when I loaded the burned DVD, it asked for the disk for a 64 bit device. Friggin' M$.

I am a little late to the party.

Is there a way to stop a PC from upgrading to windows 10 after selecting the free upgrade?

            The update hasn't started yet.

I had the little notification bit, but after reading some of the privacy stuff, I backed out. Something to do with deleting the GWX folder. Not sure if your version of Windows has already downloaded Windows 10 and is waiting to install.

It is really easy to turn the privacy stuff off now, almost all of it can be done during the install.

Windows 10 is so much faster even on old hardware. Unless you have something that won't run, you should upgrade.

Yeah, I agree. I actually held off until last week when I finally gave in and upgrade. Ever since the announcement, my Windows 7 laptop had been running so slow I thought for sure I'd be buying a new one yesterday. But since the upgrade everything is much faster, didn't lose any data, and (as mentioned) a wizard runs on install asking what privacy stuff you want to opt out of.

I didn't upgrade until a few days ago. The first day I had a couple issues that I think we're driver related but since then it's been awesome

Finally upgraded a few weeks ago. I had some issues with no sound when I first installed, but since resolving that, it's been pretty smooth sailing.

Not sure about flash and the surface pro itself but go to a store and ask. Windows 10 itself is really just a more efficient version of 7 and 8 combined

I just updated to 10 and now my dvd drive doesn't work. I have tried a couple of fixes like reading installing driver but it still won't recognize it. Any help would be appreciated thanks
