    Re: Windows 10

    I don't think IE will be completely omitted from release, but Edge, their new browser will be front and center and is in builds as Project Spartan.

    It's nice, but I've still just been using Chrome. I wish one of them had a good tablet UI like the metro version of IE.

      Re: Windows 10

      I've been using Windows 10 PB at work virtually and there is no IE. I believe MS also has confirmed it is dead in Windows 10 as they want everyone on Edge which makes sense.

      I've been on there for months now and it's interesting looking at the big difference from the first build I was on to the latest one.

        How do you like it opposed to Windows 7 and 8?

            Ya it worked. You don't have to do steps 5/6. Just go to the location you saved the file,right click on it,select "run as administrator" and then it should open up.

            1. Open Notepad
            2. Copy the following text and paste it into Notepad:

            REG QUERY "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AppCompatFlags\UpgradeExperience Indicators" /v UpgEx | findstr UpgEx
            if "%errorlevel%" == "0" GOTO RunGWX
            reg add "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AppCompatFlags\Appraiser" /v UtcOnetimeSend /t REG_DWORD /d 1 /f
            schtasks /run /TN "\Microsoft\Windows\Application Experience\Microsoft Compatibility Appraiser"
            :CompatCheckRunning
            schtasks /query /TN "\Microsoft\Windows\Application Experience\Microsoft Compatibility Appraiser"
            schtasks /query /TN "\Microsoft\Windows\Application Experience\Microsoft Compatibility Appraiser" | findstr Ready
            if NOT "%errorlevel%" == "0" ping localhost >nul &goto :CompatCheckRunning
            :RunGWX
            schtasks /run /TN "\Microsoft\Windows\Setup\gwx\refreshgwxconfig "

            1. Click File, and then Save As
            2. In the File name box, change the file name to ReserveWin10.cmd
            3. Then click the dropdown next to Save as type, and select All files (*.*)
            4. Select the folder you would like to save the file to. For this example, let’s choose to save the file to the C:/Temp folder. Then click Save.
            5. Open an elevated command prompt. (From the Start screen or Start menu, type Command Prompt in the search box, and then in the list of results, right-click Command Prompt, and select Run as administrator.)
            6. Finally, run the file from the location you saved to in Step 6. In this example, you would type the following in the Command Prompt window and hit Enter:
              C:/Temp/ReserveWin10.cmd

            The Microsoft Compatibility Appraiser can take 10 – 30 minutes to run, during which the script will continuously provide status reports that it is running. Please be patient.
            If the script is failing in an infinite loop, then you don’t have the necessary prerequisite Windows Updates.

                I'm interested in how they built the new one and it's differences between IE.

                There are several applications that utilize IE exclusively...I use SAP at work and it will not work on anything but IE so a substantial investment would be necessary to convert to a new brower before we could move to Win10.

                    I would think that SAP and Microsoft worked to make sure it worked in the new browser the Windows uses, otherwise companies won't use it

                      Ideally, yes...but to collaborate with every company that uses IE exclusively? I doubt it. I'm sure Microsoft has agreements with various companies that they asked and provided an incentive to test each build (phase) of the new browser but I think the onus would be on [x] company once Win10 is released and they want to migrate over to reprogram its application to fit the nuances of the browser (or if it doesn't work, switch to Chrome or FF or something).

                        Most corps don't jump over to new OS like that. Some are still on windows 7 and aren't looking to move from that

                            But this, basically. We just upgraded from XP earlier last year because it was no longer supported. But it looks smart now since Vista was a dud. We probably won't upgrade for another 4. Windows 7 support doesn't fully stop until 2020, and most companies aren't going to jump to an unproven OS. In 2 years we could hear about people going back to 7 and 8 because 10 is another Vista, or another ME.

                                Can't make the notification really go away. M$ really wants W10 throughout the nation. They'd probably put these notifications on Macs and Linux systems if they could figure out a way!
