PC heating up my computer room!

So I got a new job where I work from home. Only issue is my desktop is a gaming desktop and heats my home office up by about 5 degrees. I have had to switch to my laptop as it outputs very little heat. I'm ok with that for now but eventually will want to get a new desktop for my work.

My question is this, when I go to buy a new desktop here in 2016, what should I focus on buying to buy a desktop that isn't going to heat up my room like a freakin' portable heater?!

Do I go liquid cooled? I don't really need a gaming machine per se as I do that on the consoles but I would like it to be able to play the occasional strategy game or such.

    Any advice?

What desktop do you have now? If you aren't focused on gaming then buying/building a new PC that doesn't output a lot of heat should be pretty easy. You could look into an all-in-one also.

Coolers only move the heat from the chips to the air, to produce less heat you need less current so don't put in an aftermarket GPU, get a low power CPU.

He's right. Heat is only transferred. But are you gaming on this Pc or is it just idling and doing small tasks?

No, I was just surfing the net throughout the day, checking OS etc and my computer room hits about 77, despite the rest of the house being about 69 degrees.

My wife is saying I'm freezing her out so I haven't been running the desktop as of late.
