I just watched all 10 episodes over the last few days and then read the book on my Kindle app. I don't know if I've seen a movie or TV series so much different than a book before in my life. John Smith, who is my favorite character from the series, is featured on the book cover, but his character along with many others do not even exist in the book. Not a single part of the book takes place in New York.

I've really enjoyed the series and for me personally the book was a huge disappointment. I read the book hoping to get insight into what has happened and what might happen on the show. However, I think I gained very little from the book.

Production on season 2 began on March 22nd. It appears to be going for a late 2016 premiere.

I didn't realize this was based on a book by Philip K. Dick. That makes this a must watch for me

I did pretty much same as you watched the series then read the book (audio book actually) and agree it's very different. I was not very impressed with the book and if done it the other way around might not have checked out the series at all

Well as long as you don't mind 3/4 of the material and characters in the show not being in the book. Actually just don't read the book and you will be fine.

No chance I would watch the series if I read the book first and I like the series. I can't really say that so understand the ending of the book either.

I enjoyed the book. To me it was an example of the sum being much greater than its parts and the realization at the end was (and still is) thought provoking to me.

I read the book with intentions to watch the series, but the lady wanted to read the book beforehand. Knowing the series is merely just set in the world and not necessarily a direct adaptation I'll probably get her to watch it soon.
