Phil Hartman movie in the works

Daran Norris to star in Phil Hartman biopic directed by Jason Priestley

This is a strange write-up, but it caught my eye as Hartman was far and away the most talented SNL cast member imo. My first thought is how are you going to get someone to act like the actor Hartman during those segments. Hopefully, they don't hurt his legacy.

I would definitely be interested in seeing this. Loved Phil Hartman.

I imagined most of that write-up in the voice of Troy McClure. Then remembered that he voiced Troy McClure. Nice one, A.V. Club.

Interesting, you have to think that this will be mostly a behind the scenes focused film with as little re-enactment of his career as possible because I can't see anyone capturing the essence of Hartman that way.

Could be an interesting film though.

Strong statement. That's a lot of talent over the years. He is without doubt one of the best.

I don't wanna get into a pissing match over it, but I always saw Hartman as the most versatile actor throughout. I know Ferrell is the now generation favorite, but Hartman had a smart and clever presentation about him that overshadows the lot for me.

If we're talking best SNL guy ever I think Eddie Murphy has to be in the conversation.

I'm more of a Bill Murray guy.

As far as the 90s era goes though, Norm will always be my favorite.

RIP Phil, he definitely was one of the best and anchored the best time in SNL history. Top 10 for sure.

Loved him in Newsradio too. I hope they do him justice in the movie.

Man... what could've been. I loved when he would come on Letterman and go into his smug, Hollywood type character voice.

I think Murphy, Ferrell, and Hartman are the "holy trinity" of SNL members...I would go with Ferrell myself.

Maybe we need a "Starting 5" poll for SNL
