    YouTube help

This question is for anyone who has a YouTube channel that you post videos to. My son is looking to start a YouTube "Let's Play" type channel and I was wondering what I need to get for him to be able to do this. Is there software, camera, etc... that I need to get. I want to get him this stuff for Christmas.

    Thanks for any help.

Does he want to stream gameplay from a PS4 or X-Box?

For streaming on the PS4 he would need a Playstation Camera if he wants himself to be visible on the stream. If not, you don't need a camera. He can stream his gameplay without it. The camera also had a built-in mic if he plans on talking at all. Without the camera, he can use a Sony Gold headset (personal preference) and use the mic on that to talk. Just hold the down the Share button on the controller and select Broadcast Gameplay. He can then log in with his YouTube account to stream it directly to his YouTube.

Can't really give any help on X-Box and PC related streaming however.

For Xbox 360, PS3 or Wii he will need an El Gato Game Capture Card. You can buy it from Amazon or Best Buy. For PC, depending on the graphics card in the PC, the recent ones that came out in the past 2 years have built in recording and streaming capabilities.

On Nvidia graphic cards they call it Shadow Play. On AMD they call it Predator or something like that. I will say this though. Let's Play channels are very hard to get into. If he wants to edit his videos, he will need either Sony Vegas or Adobe Premiere. The Pro version of both cost around $600. Both have a Lite version though for around $60 that allow you to do basic editing, but nothing fancy.

$600!!! Yikes! I looked up the El Gato Game Capture Card on Amazon, going for about $130. Might have to do this and maybe the Lite version of one of those.
thank you guys so much for your help, I am clueless when it comes to this stuff, I just like to pop in a game and play! lol!
