        1. Modest Mouse - Strangers To Ourselves
        2. Meg Myers - Sorry
        3. MisterWives - Our Own House

The one I actually listened to the most was Modest Mouse's The Lonesome Crowded West, which was released in 1997. Somehow, I had missed that one in my MM collection. And now it's my favorite MM album, by far.

How the hell did I forget about Modest Mouse?

My favorite jumps back and forth between Lonesome Crowded West and The Moon & Antarctica.

Ugh, I absolutely hated MisterWives. It couldn't end soon enough.

Maybe this year was better than I realized. Thought of 2 more albums to at least mention.

                Rock 'N' Roll - Buckcherry
Into the Wild Life - Halestorm

Haven't really listened to either one enough to consider them for "album of the year" but listened to them enough to know they're solid albums.

I'm impressed with those of you who've listened to so many new albums in one year. I never have a ton to contribute because I listen to like three new albums a year, ha.

Anywho, the three new ones this year were:

Kendrick Lamar - To Pimp a Butterfly

Neon Indian - Vega Intl. Night School

Sufjan Stevens - Carrie & Lowell

I thought the albums from Lamar and Stevens were absolutely top notch. I wasn't feeling as great about Neon Indian; much prefer his previous album, Era Extrana.

After that metal list, I was reminded of one more (wow am I terrible at remembering when albums come out..) My latest addition is Order Shall Prevail - Jungle Rot

In no order, here are my albums presented much neater.

Order Shall Prevail - Jungle Rot
Best Song: Fight Where You Stand (feat. Max Cavalera)

Day of the Dead - Hollywood Undead
Best Song: Tough choice, 3 way tie - War Child, Party By Myself, Gravity

                      Two Hands - Turbowolf
                      Best Song: Rabbit's Foot

Jekyll + Hyde - Zac Brown Band
Best Song: Heavy is the Head (Feat. Chris Cornell)

                      Rock 'N' Roll - Buckcherry
                      Best Song: Tight Pants

Into The Wild Life - Halestorm
                      Best Song: Apocalyptic

Also, since we don't have a song of the year thread I'm gonna throw out honorable mentions for a couple singles.

                      Downtown - Macklemore
I Don't Wanna Go To Bed - Simple Plan

$10 a month for Spotify premium is the best $120 I spent this year. Follow your favorite bands and listen to Discover Weekly every week. You'll find so much new music that way it's ridiculous. Not to mention pretty much everything going back in modern recorded music history is there as well. Not the best for the artists, but the best value for the consumer of all time.

Spotify rocks but has some glaring problems. No Tool, a HORRENDOUS shuffle algorithm, but otherwise it's awesome.

Streaming is a double edged sword for artists. One one hand, they get paid in peanuts, but the exposure more than makes up for it, because exposure eventually leads to money, be it digital or physical sales or singles. That's why artists like Taylor Swift or Tool don't allow streaming, because they don't need or require any additional exposure.
