RIP Meadowlark Lemon * Harlem Globetrotter Great

Harlem Globetrotters great Meadowlark Lemon dies at age 83

    Quote from the article:

"Meadowlark was the most sensational, awesome, incredible basketball player I've ever seen. People would say it would be Dr. J or even (Michael) Jordan. For me it would be Meadowlark Lemon."

--- Wilt Chamberlain, shortly before his death in 1999

I recall watching Meadowlark when he would be showcased on ABC's Wide World of Sports on occasion. I recall always trying to emulate his corner half court half-hook shot that he would seem to make at an astounding percentage level. As a kid I could have gone to see him, but had a basketball game of my own that night and would not miss playing. I regret having missed that chance.

(note: I'm placing this in here because Meadowlark was as good of an entertainer as he was a basketball player, and this obit and tribute to him would just get lost in the basketball sub-forum)
